I just used Americana for the first time today and have a couple of questions. Is it supposed to be hard as a rock in the container? The wax would move around in the tub as I put my applicator in there. Is this normal?Any other advice?

Its normal, swirl the applicator pad back and forth (clockwise/counter clockwise) to pick up product on the pad. Great stuff - don't let it dry too long

just pinch the sides of the container when you swipe the applicator so the wax doesn't spin around

Yep Jason, thats how a GOOD paste was is supposed to be... like a brick. The wax moving around is a result of how its made, its mixed/poured hot. As it cools it contracts and takes up less room in the pot. As the others suggested simply pinch the tub to keep it from moving. As time goes on little fragments of wax will fill that gap between the container than the block and hold it in place. Lets see some pics!! |

Another related question.
I too tried it for the first time the other night. Did both my Ranger and my wife's Charger in about 90 minutes!!! Do I need to wait before putting a coat of Brilliant Spray Glaze over it? I did notice that the reflections in the hood seemed to be sharper/crisper on the way to work after the Americana treatment

I do like to let mine sit in the sun for awhile after a coat of americana, I guess it just makes me feel better. Last edited by VelosteRyan; 03-05-2010 at 05:25 PM.. |
