Any liquid detergent will do the job. And don't use dryer sheets.

I read on this site that Woolite was the best detergent to use.

Well, it could be. I know I just use Tide liquid. My MF gets destroyed from use long before they ever wear out from washing.

Do you throw the microfibre towels in the dryer, or hang them to dry?

I too read here that we should "only" use Woolite to wash our MF towels and pads to maintain peak performance.
So to put a finer edge on what your saying is, any liquid detergent is good enough for basic cleaning of our MF gear. But for preceived longivity we should wash em in Woolite. Fogive my spelling. I just washed my hands and can't do a thing with my fingers. Hmmm maybe if I used Woolite....? Jim

Like I said, my MF wears out from use long before they wear out from washing. I use the dryer on regular heat. Removes lint. Just don't use dryer sheets or any kind of fabric softener.
But like everything.......there are different opinions from different guys.

I've said multiple times on this site that any liquid detergent is perfectly safe to use and I agree with Rich - MF will wear out from use long before it wears out from washing. I have been using MicroRestore, a dedicated MF detergent with great results, so if you're going to buy a dedicated soap for your MF I'd go with that above wooliet.
Also keep a life cycle for your MF... when they start to get to be less than perfect downgrade them from paint use to door jambs and wheels. I always have 3 rotations of MF in my collection: The newest are reserved for buffing and polish removal, anything that involves touching my painted panels while they're "unprotected" The previous generation are reserved for door jambs, underhood paint, and other delicate surfaces including my paint if it needs light dusting. The oldest group in my collection goes to general MF useage, wheels and stuff that will likely kill the mf in a short time. Last edited by Dylan@Adams; 07-21-2009 at 08:38 AM.. |
