Default Body Shop in Northern VA/MD? Theres a story...

So today I was reading a few threads on here talking about either parking lot damage, door dings, hit and runs, and I'm thinking to myself wow I really hope I don't experience any of that. Well.....I spoke WAY too soon. Driving home from work today I was sitting at a stop light with one car behind me. A full size Yukon hits the car in back of me, and as you can guess that pushes the car in back of me right into my rear bumper. Damage isn't terrible, if anything hardly noticeable, but being as anal as I am about the "details" and having everything perfect I fully intend on getting it back right. So does anyone on the Northern Virginia/DC Metro/MD area have any recommendations for a shop that does quality work? I would greatly appreciate it.

Guess you can never keep anything perfect...

Chas

Are you OK?

I am assuming you are filing the claim with the driver behind you?
If so, who is he/she insured with?

Most insurance carriers have "blue ribbon", "auto repair express" or something they offer to the person ...the repairs are guaranteed for life as long as you own it, etc - IF you go to a shop on their program.

That being said...you are NOT required to use their recommended shop. You can go anywhere you want.

I work for GEICO and I know that the shops on our list go through EXTENSIVE checks and quality control and if the shop does not provide quality service and quality repair work, they are eliminated from our list.

Yeah I'm fine, thanks for asking. I got each of the driver's information so I feel like I would be filing against the lady that caused the chain reaction, which she was the second car behind me since I was the first car at the stop light. The guy in the middle of us just had bad luck. Brandi, I know you don't work for my provider, State Farm, but any recommendations on shops near Arlington? My last experience with a body shop wasn't all that great and they were recommended by my previous insurance provider, Ameriprise (blah). If you can't because any non-compete reasons I completely understand.

Yes, it would be the rear driver's fault UNLESS you felt 2 impacts. Then it would be split between the two carriers.

If you want, you can PM me an address (doesn't have to be yours directly but a business or something where I can get a point of reference) and then I can do a search and get back with you.

My personal opinion, I would only go to a body shop run by a dealership. I have had the rodeo of taking my vehicles in the past to various body shops and have had issues with clear coat down the road, everytime. Or color not matching right. I can always tell when a car has been painted for the most part and there is different shade than the original color. A lot of people tell me that's not noticeable, but stuff like that sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

I have had the experience of having work done by a dealership where I live on 2 occassions and have never had an issue. And color match is always dead on. Metallics are especially difficult to color match. There are so many variables that can affect the end result.

Thats my opinion.

Chas,

Ring me up or better yet, come by and let me take a look. I have a couple of different places to use for paint and body stuff.
