  1. I'm so glad that someone else has experience with this situation. I realize just how much I enjoyed waxing once I applied the coating and not able to wax anymore. I have H2O G&G, but I had assumed it would lessen the ability for the coating to "self clean". I may go ahead and try the G&G during my next wash. I certainly appreciate your input. One question. Do you notice the Detail Spray causing any issues with the coating and hydrophobic properties? I have a gallon of it sitting around. I absolutely love the detail spray and the smell of it is fantastic. Do you have any experience on using it on your coated car?
  2. I know that I can wax over the coating, but it's pointless. I can't justify buying Patriot wax to put over the top of a coating. As I said earlier, I don't want to reduce the hydrophobic properties of the coating by applying a wax/glaze/sealant over the top of it. I do want to try the Ceramic Boost. I would like to know if anyone has experience applying it to a "quartz" type of coating. It is a little cheaper than my current Silica spray.
  3. So I know what I did. I coated my car with a non Adam's coating. I had an $80 bottle that was laying around about to expire, so I said what the hey... I should probably use it. The product I used is amazing stuff. Has a 2 year life with proper maintenance of the coating. I still have well over 1 year left on it. What did I do to my car? With the coating that I installed, I can't use waxes/polishes/glazes. Anything on top of the coating will effect the hydrophobic properties of the coating itself. The advantage of the coating is low maintenance (i.e. no waxing and easier washing), but this disadvantage is NO WAXING. I thoroughly enjoy waxing on a bi-weekly/monthly basis. I am missing out on the loving touches to my car. I must live vicariously through everyone else on this forum on all the new products. I REALLY want to try the new Patriot wax, but I can't justify polishing all my hard work off the paint. I spent 14 hours washing, claying, polishing, and coating. I love the look of the coating, but I dislike that I can't use anything over it. What other products are a must try? I don't have the waterless wash. Is it fairly good? I do have almost every Adam's exterior product including a lot of the interior products. Does anyone else have any experience with a non Adam's coating and products that work well with it? I don't need detail spray as a drying aid because the coating works that good. The glass sealant I could try. Any recommendations from my fellow Adam's connoisseurs?!
  4. All of these "shake it off" replies remind me of a T-Swift song. Not that I know from listening to the actual song. lol
  5. Unfortunately correcting polish won't solve this problem. It is clear coat failure. GM, Ford, and even Honda had a problem with clear coat failure. I specifically remember seeing MANY Ford Probes and a few Pontiac models. The clear coat has failed and if you try to remove the "problem" with correcting polish, you are only removing what is left of the clear coat. A repaint is needed for this situation.
  6. You're right! Pterodactyl maybe?! One thing is certain, that bird had it out for your wife's car!
  7. LOL! I literally just tried to explain this to him.
  8. I have to agree with Joe on this one. Do you realize that even the Adam's Ultra Plush towel is made in Korea? You can buy good, quality towels that are made in a low cost manufacturing country. China, Korea, etc... all produce high GSM towels. A general rule of thumb is to buy from an online reputable company. The cheap ones as Walmart and your local auto parts store, probably aren't the best for touching paint (although they are great for interior and engine bays).
  9. This process sounds good, but I always clay with my car dry. I know Adam has a video of claying while in the middle of a wash, but in my opinion, if you are working in direct sun, you are better off claying a dry and clean panel IMHO. Also, I would add an IPA wipe down before the sealant. In order for the sealant to bond correctly, you need to make sure you remove all of the polishing oils from your previous step. Best way to achieve longevity is with an oil free surface. You can make your own IPA wipedown using a mixture of Rubbing alcohol and distilled water, or you could buy the "coating prep" that Adam's Polishes sells. I hope this helps! Good Luck!
  10. Shake off the mats. I always spray SG on the mat while DRY and hit it with the fender brush. I believe the key is to spray on DRY! I let the mix soak for 5 mins or so. After letting it soak I hit with a stream of water. I really love ADAM'S products, but honestly CG has an actual vinyl/rubber mat spray that goes on after they dry. It doesn't make them slippery at all (since it is made for this exact purpose). You really want to be careful using anything like VRT for liability reasons. I purchased the WT cleaner and protectant when I initially bought my first set of mats. The cleaner isn't very strong and a pressure washer will be required for the extremely dirty mats. I wouldn't spend the money on the WT branded cleaner. I hope this helps!
  11. Bump! With the new product releases coming out, it would be nice to see a spray wax/sealant! I know we probably won't see a coating now or anytime soon, but it would be nice to see a product that is a step down from a true coating. I'm getting very excited about the new possibilities that could be released. Ahh!! This anticipation is building up.
  12. I agree. You are correct. I'm just trying to correct the incorrectness of the term baking. I don't want any Newbs on here to think that "baking" (heating up to high temperature) is correct. IR lamps do transfer energy and help to cure the coating quicker using wavelengths. My question is this... If you put anything in a microwave is the object inside being baked or heated up? It's just incorrect terminology I was trying to correct for newbs.
  13. Billy. The reason that professionals use this method is because most require at LEAST 24 hours before you can introduce to moisture or condensation. The IR lamps cure the coating in much quicker time. Personal car can sit inside a garage for the full 24 hours. If the professional is getting paid a few hundred dollars to install, they want to make sure it is fully cured in a few hours instead of naturally air drying. Imagine if you had customers coming back because of a bad install of a coating? All because they allowed the car to sit outside overnight and receive moisture on the surface. The warranty claims would be astronomical. I still think of the term "baked" as referencing heat. The IR lamps do not emit any heat to "bake". It is simply a curing process. I think this is where the confusion comes into play.
  14. Coating's are a great idea. They protect far longer than a wax/sealant. Most are generally easy to apply/remove. Regardless, most require a little getting used to. Just try it...You'll like it!
  15. I'm not sure what you mean by "baked on". Most of the professional series don't even require "baking". No heating is ever required. Some people use IR lamps to help cure the coating FASTER than air drying. Maybe this is where you are getting the baking idea from?
  16. It's confirmed. It's a ceramic trim coating. I'm excited, but I'm also a little bummed.
  17. They have a new product coming out. It looks like a trim sealant and not a paint sealant. Bummer.
  18. Stop it Steve!! You're getting me excited over here. Lol. I'm always looking forward to new products!
  19. Dan!! Thank you so much for clarifying. I guess since there aren't any facts we will just have to wait and see what will happen in time. Thank you again for clarifying.
  20. Very nice color! Great job detailing the blue beauty!
  21. Ok. I just didn't know why it would've been deleted. Nothing inappropriate was said. The post received very good feedback. Maybe it was deleted because they won't release a coating? I'm just not 100% on the rules here. Just curious. Thanks for the input guys!
  22. I started a topic about Adam's Coating and the possibility of this happening. My thread was deleted. How does this happen??
  23. I never had the opportunity to try out the Patriot Wax, but many reviews on here say that the new Americana is comparable but with higher longevity. I hear rumors that Patriot might make a comeback. I'm really hoping for an Adam's Polishes COATING!!
