  1. Okay, cool, this helps. Yeah, I took it as just wanting the coating to last as long as possible. He mentioned when the car is sitting outside at work, if it rains he'd rather the rain sit on the wax than directly on the coating. Not because the coating was weak or anything, just that extra little bit of protection on my investment. I hadn't considered how wax would interact with the ceramic coating; still new to going this extra bit for my cars. This one is 4 weeks old and I want to keep it looking fresh for a nice long while. My others weren't bad by any means but a wax was extremely rare for them.
  2. Whew, that's a lot of answers! Okay, so it was 3 layers of Kenzo ceramic, done by a local installer. He is highly recommended in the local Porsche group, and does really good work. When describing in my initial post, I was off on my timeline. His recommendation was after 3-4 washes go over it with wax; the justification being that sitting out all day in the elements the softer coatings mentioned by Shane would eventually just get worn down. So I suppose that after a bit it would be best to reinforce the softer layers with wax.
  3. So I just had 3 layers of ceramic put on my car yesterday and the guy mentioned that I should put a coat of wax on in the next few weeks or so. I was originally going to go with the Buttery Wax based on recommendations, but then stumbled across the Ceramic Boost. Is there a benefit of one over the other, given that I just had the ceramic put on yesterday? Thanks for any suggestions.
  4. Hmm, okay so let’s say I do the complete strip down detail as you laid out, what would be essentials for regular washes? There just seem to be so many products, it is hard to tell what should be used every time, most of the time, and occasionally. I know for sure that I want to buy a couple of the buckets with grit guard (for the 2 bucket wash, which i’ve never done on any car), some of the towels and and a mit, the rinseless wash mentioned in the previous posts, and probably a foam gun/cannon. Is this a good starting set or is there something I should consider adding?
  5. Okay, so a quick follow-up. I started down the rabbit hole that is the instructional videos, and it got me thinking. If I'm going to do a full on detail to get it looking like-new, what would y'all recommend as things to pick up in my first purchase. Let's say I have $100-$150 to spend. (Father's Day is coming up, so anything I miss can be picked up then. :D) Go...
  6. Holy cow, that rinseless stuff seems amazing, and just what I need. I can easily get the Panny done in 45min. Dad was out of town often, so he didn’t put more than 28k miles on it over the last 7 years, meaning he also didn’t do full wash/wax often. I think i’m going to do a full on detail job, and get the car back to the “like new” stage, but pick up a bottle of this for these weekly quick washes. Thanks again everyone!
  7. Awesome! Yeah it’s not terribly dirty, mostly road grime, but we’ve had cruddy weather here in Houston the last 3 weeks or so, so I was trying to find a way to limit my workload during the week. I’d like to keep it to a quick 30-45min wash, which these kind of sound like. Thanks again!
  8. Hey everyone, newbie here. I recently bought a 2011 white (not pearl, but stark white) Panamera from my dad. Love the car, but the color is driving me nuts, it is so difficult to keep clean. I’m coming from a dark blue GTI, which wasn’t too bad. I’ve come to the realization that i’m going to have to give it some kind of wash every week. However, I really don’t want to have to do a full on wash every week. Can y’all give me some recommendations on the best quick washes? Is a foam gun/canon and pressure wash a good investment, or just a simple suds and scrub? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Looking forward to being involved on the boards!
