My truck has a carpet like material on the wheels wells. I just use shampoo on it with a soft brush and gentle pressure. And it works fine. I do use undercarriage spray but I do not spray it on the carpet. It maybe fine but I’ve never done it

Agreed. Just towels will do the job. Get the wheel woolies if you don't have them yet. They're great for getting deep in the wheel wells for us guys who don't have lifts to get behind the wheels. The small one really gets into small, tight spaces.
