  1. Dave speaks the truth! I'm almost positive I saw at least one gallon of BG at the Goodguys show this past weekend, and I think it sold. I use enough of it that I might eventually start getting it by the gallon too.
  2. There's your answer right there! I go through quite a bit of those blue plastic razor blades when removing vinyl lettering, but I'm not too fond of using them because they can even mar up the soft clear on my truck if I'm not super careful.
  3. Welcome aboard! That is some outstanding work you're doing there in those shots. We're always excited to chat with enthusiasts and detailers, so don't be a stranger around here
  4. On the way to Adam's HQ Friday morning with Matt, such spectacular views! Matt gave me a tour of the whole facility - from the car wash bay to the bottling and fill stations to the product picking and shipping areas and then finally to the front entrance and office areas. The entire team was very friendly and welcoming, despite me briefly interrupting their busy and important duties on the floor. I sat in with Ben and helped field a few customer service calls, and had some great brainstorming sessions with Adam, Matt, and Ben too, about "getting Dan Tyger on our team!" I was ecstatic. I'm going to refrain from posting any pictures of the facility for now, because it's super-duper-top-secret...just kidding...but I don't want to accidentally post up anything that I shouldn't Then Adam and I headed over to the show to meet up with the rest of the crew that had opened up the display a couple hours earlier. Adam spoke to our pals across the walkway at the PPG booth, and Sidney and I started a fun little metal polishing demonstration on their tricked out golf cart. All of the metal was oxidized and in need of a good shine. Yikes! And after some quick work with MP #1 and MP #2, and some Tire Shine...looking much better: The rails turned out much better than they were, but not totally perfect due to how pitted they were and time constraints of us still helping out customers too We then gave the vinyl seats a wipe down to remove some dirt stains, polished the steering column and the aluminum pedals, applied SVRT to all of the black plastic trim and floor, and Sid sprayed some IUC in the wheel wells to finish it off. After nearly every other vendor was gone for the day, Adam was still working with the Rupes LHR 15ES Bigfoot on what happens to be my favorite Corvette of all time, the '63 Split-Window! Dedication my friends I couldn't get enough of the Purifoy Chevrolet 2016 Stingray either, such a stunning car too. To be continued with Part 3, the conclusion of my awesome weekend!
  5. I always have difficulty with removing the Carlisle registration stickers from the top corner of my windshield. They leave a crazy amount of residue behind if I don't use a razor blade, and sometimes I just don't like cutting my fingers up. For glass and that particular adhesive, I've had my best results using full strength APC sprayed onto the residue and into a Microfiber Utility Towel and then scrubbing for 30 seconds or so in a concentrated spot. Then once I get the majority off, I will go back over the area with Glass Cleaner and a Clay Bar, but I definitely would not recommend this scrubbing method on paint! I also have a lot of 'fun' experience with removing vinyl sponsor decals off of the painted surfaces of my vehicles at the end of road rally events, and the cheaper vinyl tends to leave a lot of difficult to remove residue as well I will use either DS and a clay bar, or go to a diluted APC spray for really stubborn areas, but I make sure to immediately clean the painted surface of any APC afterwards. Then I will go over the area with PCP and an orange foam pad with the polisher of my choice to remove any fine lines that were left by the outline of the vinyl. I haven't had to remove any residue from a PPF yet, so I will discuss it with some of the other staff and get back to you!
  6. I've found especially with applying LPS by hand, to only apply it one panel at a time in a very thin layer as others have mentioned. I always use a clean single soft or double soft microfiber towel to remove the LPS residue. It almost always wipes off great with no smearing. The few times that I've had a little difficulty were when I was lazy and used a microfiber that already had a good bit of PCP or PFP residue in it, shame on me! I do prefer to apply LPS by machine with a gray foam pad at a low speed setting with no downward pressure on the machine, whether it be with my Flex at speed setting 2 or my Cyclo at around speed setting 3-3.5, but some spots you just have to apply by hand
  7. Hey guys and gals! I've had so many thoughts running through my head for the past week, and I've been super busy dealing with some exciting things, that I'm not even sure where to start, but here we go! A little background on me real quick: I've been an Adam's Polishes fanatic since I made the switch to Adam's products when I bought my GTO new back in 2006, and I've never looked back. Made in the USA products mean a lot to me, and when you add ease of use and incredible results to that, well, I think that's just awesome! I would say I've done full exterior and interior details on around 60 cars now in the last 2 1/2 years as an evening and weekend hobby to help out friends, local businesses, and even some customers that travel 90 minutes down from Pittsburgh. I know I don't have thousands of posts on here (yet!) like some of you do, but a lot of my friends and road rally buddies usually refer to me as something along the lines of "the Adam's guy" I've been helping Dave out at some of the Carlisle Events for the past 2 years, as well as helping Adam and Ray at the Grabiak Chevrolet Detail Clinics. I had an absolutely amazing week helping out at Corvettes at Carlisle a couple weeks back, and towards the end of the show, Adam offered for me to come out to Colorado to see Headquarters, meet the team, and to help out at the Goodguys 18th Colorado Nationals. Seeing as I had a long weekend, a bazillion or so airline miles, and an opportunity to continue my passion of detailing cars and interacting with the car community, I said ABSOLUTELY! I cannot say thank you enough to Adam, Matt, Kent, Ben, Kourtney, Joe and every other member of the team for making me feel so welcome and giving me such an outstanding experience! So now, I'll post up a sort-of photo journal of my weekend adventure to Colorado Thursday, September 10, 2015, 0400...on the cold, wet rainy drive to PIT airport. I wasn't even phased by the weather and was so pumped up to get to the airport and catch my flight. I let out an evil laugh more than once as the rain was no match for HGG at 70mph on the highway...I had to get a quick shot of some 5am beading action. Thursday, September 10, 2015, 1100...obligatory airplane travel shot. Oh Hi there Orlando! Quick connection flight and then non-stop to Denver. The man himself, Adam, picked me up at the airport and we had to make a quick stop at Purifoy Chevrolet to transport a gorgeous 2016 Corvette Stingray over to Loveland for the Goodguys show. Adam said that Ben would be meeting us at the dealership, so I had assumed that either Ben or one of the dealership employees would be transporting this dream ride, then after some paperwork, a gentleman hands me the keys! At this point I'm floating somewhere above cloud 9 and thinking to myself "...and I haven't even been in Colorado for an hour yet!" I was smitten with this car after 2 or 3 miles on the road, even with it being the 8 speed auto...perfect color combo, perfect seating position, perfect handling and exhaust note with the bi-modal exhaust, perfect view of the aggressive fender arches through the windshield...perfect... The 35 or so miles to the show were truly a wonderful moment on beautiful roads that I won't forget. This was really the only picture I snapped during the drive, before we got to those beautiful highways, but at least it shows the sweet HUD Fully customizable gauge cluster, similar to my Buick/Opel Regal, just way more options and modes! Track mode is out of this world. To be continued tomorrow with more of the adventure and a lot more pictures, but for right now I should probably get some rest!
  8. I really cannot begin to explain how much of an amazing weekend it has been here in Colorado and at the show. I have lots of things to post tomorrow, maybe while waiting for flights at airports, but definitely when I get back to the east coast! For right now though, I need some sleep
  9. Hi Jack, the new Gen 5 pads have an improved high-grip Velcro backing for max adhesion to the machine and a firmer, neoprene mid-layer between the Velcro and the foam face for maximum mechanical movement from the polisher to the paint surface, which produces faster and better results. The pads also have a center cooling hole and a flat foam face for stability. There is nothing wrong with the older generation pads - they still work fantastic and I have a bunch in my arsenal...but the new pads are better! Hope that helps
  10. What type of towels are you using with the Glass Cleaner? I get my best results spraying maybe 2 or 3 sprays of Glass Cleaner on say a door window, wiping with one side of the microfiber glass cleaning towel, and then flipping the towel over and wiping again for a perfect streak-free finish.
  11. I use Glass Cleaner somewhat sparingly on the glass towel for the interior windshield glass and then flip the towel over to the dry side and finish off with a Single Soft microfiber just as Dave describes. For the exterior glass, after I clean the windshield with Glass Cleaner and a clay bar, and seal it with Glass Sealant, I sometimes use Brilliant Glaze, Detail Spray, or H2O Guard & Gloss on all exterior glass, every few washes or so to cut down on any oily film residue that might build up.
  12. Hi Jeff! Welcome to the fun house +1 on seeing some pictures of your ride if you can post them! I had a gloss black TBSS for a daily driver for 6 years, so I'm right there with you when you say it can be a full time job! Since you said like the ease of maintenance with coatings, I would suggest you look into H2O Guard & Gloss if you aren't already familiar with it. It's a water-activated acrylic sealant - incredibly easy to apply and quickly becoming one of my favorite products. There's a video of it on the product page as well: http://adamspolishes.com/shop/exterior/carwashing/adam-s-h2o-guard-gloss.html And if you need some products, don't forget to use the "LABOR15" discount code this weekend for some extra savings, excluding machine polishers, machine kits, metrovac products, and gift cards
  13. I've used SVRT and Quick Sealant on running boards of different trucks I've detailed, for varying degrees of glossiness to the black plastic. I haven't had any problems or complaints of them being too slippery yet, but I do caution the owners that they might be a little slick. I absolutely love Total Interior Detailer on black plastic floor trim inside of the doors for a nice matte, clean finish, and I had planned on trying TID and H2O Guard & Gloss on the running boards for the next truck I detail. HGG works fantastic on black plastic wiper cowls, mirrors, vertical door trim, and so on, but I haven't had a chance to try it specifically on running boards just yet
  14. Correct, going over the car with a clay bar is going to pull the majority (if not all) of the Americana paste wax off of the clearcoat. It would then be perfect to apply a coat of H2O Guard and Gloss onto the smooth surface, just like Adam does in the video. You could then follow up with Americana or Brilliant Glaze or Patriot, but you might be happy enough with the incredible shine and protection that HGG offers!
  15. Yeah, the price is definitely steep, but I imagine they aren't making a ton of money on them due to all of the technology inside that tiny ball, plus all of the R&D and marketing associated with it. I still think it's cool. Lol.
  16. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've loved reading a great science fiction book or watching a science fiction film since I was a child, and my dad and brother got me hooked on Star Wars at a young age. I remember going to see the prequels in the theater at midnight with my brother and best friend. Now I'm in my early 30's and unless you've been living under a rock, you probably know there's a new Star Wars film on the way in December...there's also this pretty remarkable little app-enabled droid that went on sale, BB-8 from the Force Awakens. The video is a little cheesy but it shows some pretty incredible technology, design, and engineering for such a small toy. https://youtu.be/-1Y2WfcCb4M I'm truly amazed at how far technology has come in the last 10 years, to be able to have so much control at your fingertips on a phone - from remotely starting a car to changing the thermostat or lighting in my house while I'm at work or half way across the world to WiFi door locks and now to this cool little robot toy. Ha. In the not too distant future I can easily see something like this "toy" advancing to something with a mini camera and microphone to patrol the house and detect pets or intruders, or say if a family member was hurt, and send alerts to your phone or emergency services. Sometimes technology is just plain cool, and I have a feeling this is going to be one very popular gift this holiday season! I think I might just buy one for my older brother to say thanks for so many great memories all these years.
  17. I just finished watching the video too and thought it was very nicely done! I follow a very similar method for my daily driver, even right down to the APC and fender brush on my weathertechs. To save even more time if I'm in a hurry, I'll just clay the front and rear bumpers, windshield, headlights, bottom half of the doors and the rocker panels, since those areas get hammered the most with bugs and tar on my particular daily driver due to all of the unique curves. But H2O Guard & Gloss is my new go-to product without a doubt. It makes the white pearl sparkle and shine in no time at all. It's almost too easy :-p
  18. Hmm, I just looked to see if I could change it for you, but I don't think I have that permission. I'll talk with Chris later this afternoon and take care of it.
  19. Drool. I'm just a bit partial to GTO's Beautiful color too!
  20. Welcome! What part of Maryland do you call home? Send me a PM if you don't want to say here. I'm in the southwest corner of PA, about 50 minutes from Cumberland. I would be more than happy to show you machine polishing and every other Adam's product if you're nearby!

  22. I'm filing this in the super secret detailing tricks section of my brain...just kidding...I always try to help out everyone the best I can Along the same lines of interesting uses for WD-40, I like to use the combo of it followed up with All Purpose Cleaner to remove plastidip from tight crevices in clearcoated wheel spokes. I then quickly follow up with cleaning the wheel with either Car Shampoo or Waterless Wash to make sure I removed all trace amounts of the stronger chemicals.
  23. I use Quick Sealant on all of my wheels as well, but I'm going to test out HGG on the split spoke z06 wheels on my truck later this week since the Hawk pads I'm running on it seem to love to make a lot of dust. I'll add some before and after photos and some test results to this thread after some 'spirited driving' on some amazing mountain backroads near my house
  24. Thanks for all of the outstanding pictures Rich! I wish I would've got to talk to you a little more this weekend but we were super busy
