  1. Thanks for the link, I didn't see that thread. A lot to be learned on forums, glad I made a thread about this instead of just buying a flashlight. I'll give the Rupes flashlight a try. I was turned away by the amazon reviews. Although it seems like one of the reviewers received the Flex light instead of the Rupes? https://www.amazon.com/Rupes-LL150-RUPES-LED-Penlight/product-reviews/B00N56DOGI/ref=cm_cr_dp_see_all_btm?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1&sortBy=recent
  2. What kind of detailing lights do you guys use to check your work and condition of your paint? The 3M sungun came up but I don't really want to swing $500 on a flashlight. The Rupes pen light also came up but from the specs and reviews, that one seems to be 50 bucks for no reason other than saying "Rupes" on it. I came across these flash lights here which seems insanely bright for a good price. Would these work well for what I want to do with them? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DI7FBFU?psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FCSP88I?psc=1
  3. Lol, thank you all. The results were definitely worth it. I definitely will, I do my best to keep her out of harms way but still drive her as much as possible.
  4. Thank you, thank you. It was worth it, the car is absolutely gleaming! I forgot to mention this in the original thread, but I'd like to give a shout out to Benjamin Stanley at Adams. The 4" backing plate was missing from my somewhat large order and I sent a message. I got a reply very quickly and Benjamin sent me the backing plate immediately, no questions asked. I got it in a couple of days. Incredible service! Thanks Ben!
  5. It's such a great car. I love it more than I thought I would. A lot of fun to drive and there really aren't any trade offs with it like with most performance cars. It does everything well.
  6. Some of you probably saw my other post that I bought a Chevrolet SS sedan. I just finally finished a few hours ago, detailing the living **** out of it, which took about 3 days from wash, clay, paint correction, polish, and sealant. I put a sealant on it yesterday and just put another coat on 24 hours later. I'm pretty happy with the result, doesn't get much better than this.
  7. Thanks! Yes, not many 4 door cars come with 3 pedals anymore, the SS may be the last of it's kind, unless you go used. The new CTS-V though is absolutely beautiful, I love them. If I had the money, I would strongly consider one. I think 2017's are just getting new colors from what I know, 2016 and 2017 should be more or less the same. As an owner of a Pontiac G8 GT (mine was a 2008), I can honestly say this car is better in every possible way.
  8. Lol, I'm trying to be a good boy. Thanks, yes I do love it already. I love the LS3. So many possibilities lol
  9. Yes we can. This car is also my daily, so I wanna keep it reliable and streetable. Yes, you're right. And the engine is made in Mexico Yup, that's true, unfortunately.
  10. Thank you! Absolutely, it's actually cheaper with the 3rd pedal, the gas guzzler tax is $1,300 with the auto and $1,000 with the stick, so you actually save $300. There's no other car like it on the market right now (4 door American car that's rear wheel drive, V8 with a manual). No unfortunately, I had to sell that to do more financially responsible things. I had the Shelby and a daily driver. Got rid of both and now have this to take on all duties. Saves me a lot of money, but I still can have some fun. It's obviously not as fast as the Shelby though, my Shelby was trapping over 130 mph in the 1/4 on hot humid days.
  11. After rummaging through my stuff, I see I have a little of Adams Clay Bar left. I think it's enough to do the car. Can't wait to try the new stuff though, just watched the video on it and it looks great. Thank you, definitely will do! I know how that is. I was able to get away with this one since it's a roomy 4 door Thank you, I like it more than I was expecting. Definitely have to see the car in person. NICE GXP! That's definitely a unicorn you have there.
  12. Thanks, yes it's definitely a fun ride, especially with the magnetic ride and the 6 speed manual Thank you, thank you! That's all good news, can't wait to have her gleaming with a nice sealant on her. I'll be taking every step, I don't take short cuts with things like this. I'll have to give the new clay a try, I didn't put that in my order. It's crazy how quickly the totals add up lol. The paint from the factory is actually one of the best I've had with this car, believe it or not. Doesn't look like I'll be spending hours to fix things up.
  13. Just got a 2016 Chevrolet SS and am pretty excited! I owned a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT back in the day and loved it, when I saw this car in person at my local dealership, I knew I wanted it. I love it much more than I thought I would, pictures really don't do the car justice Here's the car: So I just ordered a whole bunch of stuff to correct the paint, including the whole wheel cleaning package, foam gun and a few other goodies, but I already had a lot of stuff left over from last season and I have a few questions. Question 1: I still have the orange paint correction polish, white finish polish and paint sealant from over a year ago. Is there a shelf life on these things before I attempt using it on my new car? They weren't kept outside during the cold months, I opened them up and they seem okay. I'd just like to make sure before I attempt to use them. Question 2: I ordered all new pads, I ordered the flex (I believe) polisher from Adams website 2 years ago as well and the pads didn't have the hole in the center of them that these new pads have. Will the pads still work with my current polisher or do I have to change something to make them work?
  14. I don't mind that it only lasts 2 years. I would rather have it come off instead of be permeant. The detailer that's doing my car does both opticoat and Cquartz. He said the same thing as you, except that Cquartz has a bit more of a deep, wet looking shine even though opticoat outlasts it. I also mentioned to him about the scratches etc. He said if applied properly and properly cured, it shouldn't scratch or swirl that easily as long as you properly wash it. He's putting on 3 coats of this stuff. If it scratches and swirls up, I'll just polish it. It would suck to lose the protection, but not that big of a deal. I figured I'd give it a shot. The cars I saw treated with it looked incredible. My question basically is, what methods and products should I use to wash the car after Cquartz is applied? Yes, black is beyond a pain, but damn does it look good when it's clean!
