Perforated Leather Seats?

RByers91

Question

I recently bought the interior kit for my car, and just before I started to clean it i realized my seats were perforated. I'm not sure if they are due to the heated/cooled seats or just for breathability, but I was a little uneasy about spraying the leather/interior cleaner all over them due to stories I've heard of liquid destroying the heated/cooling action. Would love to get some input to just make sure I'm not going to mess anything up, thanks.

If you're concerned, just spray the Leather and Interior Cleaner onto a microfiber and then wipe the seat down with that. This avoids excess product getting onto the seat. I have perforated leather in my G8 and this is what I do, haven't had any problems.

Even cleaning the interior you don't want to spray the interior cleaner directly in the interior itself.

Strange, since in the video I watched he sprayed it directly. Oh well better safe than sorry. Thanks for the responses.

What I have been doing lately is filling a small bucket with water, adding 4 oz of leather and interior cleaner & dunking a utility towel to wipe down the interior.

How's that work out?

I never spray directly onto my finishes. I always spray it onto a micro. And with the Leather Conditioner, I use a micro mostly, but sometimes I just use my hand and really rub it in.

I may be the minoritybut I spray directly onto my seatsand just make sure it is a lite mist on the perforated parts. I have never had an issue and have been doing this for years.

I do the same.

No sweat on the perforated seats, won't hurt a thing.  You just made me think about a video we need to shoot.  When to use Leather & Interior Cleaner, vs. when to use Total Interior Detailer.....

Leather & Interior Cleaner should be used on a super dirty interior, one that hasn't been cleaned in 5K miles or more.  Use a Microfiber Utility Towel when possible, and only resort to a Cockpit Brush if the surface can't be cleaned effectively with a towel wipe.  NOTE:  99% of the time, a towel will suffice.

Total Interior Detailer is the go-to product for regular use.  It has enough cleaner in it to maintain a regularly cleaned interior.

Suppose I should leak this.....there is an upgraded Total Interior Detailer coming soon, and it rocks.  A tad more cleaning capability, and a nicer finish is left behind, darker, with more UV protection.....stay tuned!!

Thats awesome to hear Adam.  Is the scent changing at all on the TID?  A bit too baby powdery for me, I still use Detail Spray most of the time on the interior surfaces for light cleaning and protection, but obviously I'm always up to try new formulations.

I agree with what you said though, I would only use the Interior Cleaner if the surfaces haven't been cleaned in forever, if they are maintained with TID it shouldn't often need it.  Only other use for the Leather/Interior Cleaner is if you are freshly dressing the leather and want to deep clean the surface before applying fresh dressing (note: when doing this, you'll likely need 2 applications of Leather Conditioner as the seats will really soak in the dressing)

Finally. I never had good luck with the current formula and it's always in my mystery boxes. I'm looking forward to trying the new one. Edited by SYMAWD

Different smell, cleaner, and I'm a big fan!  Keep a 4oz bottle in my door panel at all times.  You are dead on with the 2 coats of LC after using the L&IC....

I don't mind the scent of the current formulation, as it is quite mild.  I enjoy the scent of the exterior products, as they all make the garage smell nice, something like a tropical fruit smoothie when they are all combined together.  I also enjoy the scent of the leather conditioner, as it helps keep the interior smelling like new.  However, I don't want the leather interior of my car to smell like a fruit salad, so I feel like any interior detailing product should have a very mild, or even neutral scent.
