This morning, before it got hotter than Hades, I finally took a hose and a brush to the engine bay of my Astra.  Despite all the proven fact that it’s safe, I was still a big  ?????.  Results are nice! It’s not going to win any awards, but looks better.  Found some spots I’ll need to try to get next time with a tooth brush.

Used the sidekick to blow out debris.  Covered any electrical connections I was unsure about with plastic grocery bags.  I rinsed it down, sprayed the Eco all purpose cleaner, let dwell a bit.  Then used my wheel brush and lug nut brush to agitate the cleaner.   I then did the under side if the hood. Sprayed with Eco APC, agitated with brush and rinsed everything.  Removed plastic bags,  Used sidekick to blow out the water. Used a cheap MF to wipe down some areas I couldnt get to with brush, and finished drying.  Dressed with VRT and In n Out spray.

Not sure what stained the plastic at the front.  It was there before I started cleaning.  But now it’s really noticeable.  I’ll see what the trim restorer can do later this week.

Did a paint enhancement on this car over the weekend. I don’t think it had ever been detailed. Wash, iron decon, clay and then polished with an AIO type product and then topped off with another layer of sealant. Then dressed the tires and waxed the face of the wheels for an added touch. It made a huge difference and I removed probably 30-40% of the swirls.

Update on the trim from my previous post. Used Trim Restorer on it yesterday. Though I only used drops, I still used too much. I applied it yesterday and had to wipe off some residue today.  I’m pretty impressed with the coverage over those stains. Can’t wait to use the Trim Restorer on the cowl, and my grille.

Ok @rrmccabe howd it do? does the wood still slide smoothly? notice anything between this and say a nice straight finish on the surface?

To early to tell.  Need to wait 24 hours and put boost on it.  Since my shop is in my garage I am always dealing with humidity. Could be 90% depending on weather. Compound that with the fact I have a wash bay in the garage and a sink next to the table saw.

I have tried everything to keep the rust off. T9 Boeshield, Johnsons wax. No luck with anything.

I just sanded the top with a sander and coated. Its been about 4 hours and already much slicker than just raw cast iron. I put the CC on liberally and did not buff it off with a towel.  I actually double coated it.  The question is, will it last :)

Im really curious as I am in the process of starting the build on my new shop/garage (Thread to come soon) and protecting equipment surfaces but not having to clean and reprotect regularly was something I was really mulling over and looking for more info on.

Nice job Ray.  Try Ceramic Boost on the running boards.  Apply to a MF and then spread it over the painted areas. Don't spray it directly on the running board. Remove the excess with a clean MF and buff to a nice finish.

@ZMAN024 I was able to spend some time with truck today and tried your recommendation of using Ceramic Boost 1.0 on the running boards and it worked great.  They look sharp and the color distribution is even.   Thanks for passing on the recommendation.

Did you try some of the ceramic prep to clean up those areas first? I used it on the Chevy Camaro metal plates on the front under the hood & it does a great job of getting rid of water spots & grease.
