THE Mook Posted July 11, 2013 Share Posted July 11, 2013 Good Afternoon! This write up is a long time coming. It feels like I detailed this puppy ages ago. Anyway, this was a return customer, bringing me his Range Rover after how happy he was with his CarreraS I recently knocked out for him. I have to be honest, I misunderstood him on the phone (maybe I need to cut out so much earbud time on the iPhone), and thought he was bringing me a Ford Ranger! Needless to say when he dropped the Range Rover off, I was a bit shocked! Upon initial examination, I knew I really had some WORK to put in here. The paint was nasty, contaminated, swirled, hazed, spotted...the wheels had brake dust from the factory it seemed, the engine bay was pretty dirty, and oh, I was also tasked with cleaning and detailing the interior! Please, take a look at some of the Befores. Not too bad from 10' right? I had an idea for these pillars...you tell me if it worked. Plastics/Rubber steppads, etc., were pretty dry. You know I hit inside the fuel door every time. This was no exception. That brake dust in the spokes would prove to be a real chore. The entirety of the paint had something going on with it. Whether it was swirls, spots, a combination of both, tree sap, etc... The interior would need the full Adam's Treatment. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! THE Mook Posted July 11, 2013 Author Share Posted July 11, 2013 The Products and Process: · Wheel Wells and Tires cleaned with Adam's All Purpose Cleaner and the Adam's 20" Fender Brush. · Wheels cleaned with Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner, Adam's Boulder Blonde Boar's Hair Wheel Brush, and Adam's Turbostick. · Engine Bay cleaned with Adam's All Purpose Cleaner, Adam's Wheel Woolies, and Adam's Boulder Blonde Boar's Hair Wheel Brush. · Two Bucket Wash with Grit Guards and Two Wash Pads from the Adam's Complete Two Bucket Wash Kit. · Vehicle was dried using Adam's Air Force Master Blaster and Adam's Great White Drying Towel. · Engine Bay, Tires and Trim were dressed with either Adam's SVRT or Adam's In and Out Spray. · Wheel Wells were dressed with Adam's Invisible Undercarriage Spray. · Vehicle was masked with Adam's Professional Detailer's Masking Tape. · Door Jambs were cleaned with Adam's Waterless Wash and Adam's Waterless Wash Towels. · Interior was vacuumed with the Adam's Vac'N'Blo Compact Wall Mount. · Interior was cleaned with Adam's Leather and Interior Cleaner and Adam's Edgeless Microfiber Utility Towels. · Interior was dressed with Adam's Leather and Interior Conditioner and Adam's Premium Interior Dressing Applicators. · Interior Glass cleaned with Adam's Glass Cleaner and Adam's Glass Cleaning Microfiber Towels. · Decontamination of paint was done using Adam's Detailing Claybar and Adam's Detail Spray as a lubricant. · Paint was corrected (swirl marks and water spotting) with the Flex 3401VRG Polisher, Adam's 7" Orange Microfiber Paint Cutting Pad, and Adam's Paint Correcting Polish. · The entirety of the paint was polished with the same polisher, Adam's 7" White Foam Paint Finishing Pad, and Adam's Paint Finishing Polish. · Paint and Glass pieces were treated to Adam's Brilliant Glaze via the Adam's 7" Red Glazing Pad or the Adam's Americana Premium Wax and Glaze Applicator. · Paint was treated to Adam's Americana Premium Carnauba Paste Wax. · All Polish, Glaze, and Wax residue removed with Adam's DoubleSoft Towels. That engine bay freshly cleaned and maybe those aren't water droplets, rather tears of joy. I can't believe how faded this cowl was. After I got it dried off, in the light for some clean preliminary pictures of the paint, wow. A little testing was in order. THE Mook Posted July 11, 2013 Author Share Posted July 11, 2013 After a LOT of time spent on the paint, carefully going through each panel to maintain my level of expectation, I finally called the customer to come get his Range Rover. Here are a few after shots. I was able to get all the swirls out, most of the scratches that didn't require paper, the hazing, and water spots too. The brake dust on the wheels took me upwards of an hour a pop on some of the wheels too. Before: After: Before: After: Wheels, Tires and Wheel Wheels looking crisp. I don't see any swirls. But I do see some orange peel. Remember that dirrtttttty engine? No more! (Notice I got the cowl back too) Interiors are kind of boring for me, so here those are: Thanks! Most of the Range Rover owners around here trade them in when they get to the condition in those before shots. Just some awesome work you did.
