THE Mook
Good Afternoon Everyone! This Saab I recently polished out was a LOT of fun for me! Really! The customer came to the studio both in search of product to take care of his new car, but also with concerns about the "dealer detail" he received upon taking delivery of his new to him Saab. Matt and I did the "customer walk" out in the parking lot, and both literally jumped and said, "Whoa", upon seeing this car out in the light. This baby was in poor shape for being "detailed" recently. Where do I start? Obvious holograms, non-directional, littered the finish of the car, there was acid water staining, swirl marks, sap...you name it, the prior "detailer" missed it. Here are a couple of shots to show you all what I was dealing with: In addition to trashing the paint, they also completely neglected the plastics, or chose to get polish and wax on them... From 10' back, at least in person, you could notice the Java Metallic paint just depressed as all get out. The wheels...I knew just the trick for these The Engine Bay I guess was only optional for the other guy. That's all on the before shots....you can see, this is my kinda detail! THE Mook
Here you can see, and if you look close, you can hear , the engine bay relaxing with a little day at Mook's Motor Spa. Oh the bleeding! Thirsty? With the car clean and inside, I was able to capture the water staining better. I am not sure the last time this car had been clayed. The entirety of the car clayed, I could move onto testing... Edited July 16, 2013 by GerryC Mixing Fook's Lysdexia
THE Mook
So, in testing I realized that it would take one pass on the MF 7" Orange Pad with the Flex and Adam's PCP, followed by one pass on the Foam 7" White Pad and Adam's PFP. The paint responded extremely well to our stuff. I haven't got the PFP out to this point... You can see our new Polish Duo made short work of all the trash that was in the paint. Sad, SAD deck lid. Not anymore. The customer left me a message overnight to possibly debadge the trunk. OK! All I used was a heat gun, a plastic razor blade, and some claybar. Polished it back up, then sealed it. Nevermind the band aid on my thumb I got into a fight with the pressure washer, and it took a piece of my thumb as a souvenir.
THE Mook
After 10 fun-filled, jam packed hours of awesome, it was time to get this baby out in the light and let it breathe! One quick interior reflection shot first! Here's the Hood. Remember, this paint is Java Metallic. Looks like glass to me. SVRT and UCS had the corners looking proper. Remember all that trash in the paint? Spots, Holos, Swirls.... Engine. Roof. Thanks for stopping in! Time to go wash a Jag! JBlack151
My eyes went cross-eyed after looking at the paint in those before shots. Excellent work as always big guy. And you have the best options in the warehouse for cool reflection shots. THE Mook

THE Mook
Thank you for the kind words, I made an error in writing the test patch. Sorry!
PacificNWBuckeye
I can't believe that was "professionally" detailed, someone needs to hit that "detailer" with his rotary. Crazy turn around Mook, love that color, looks like a different car in the afters. The one with the truck and trailer you almost don't see the roof is the foreground, framed differently it would disappear from the reflections lining up. Rich B.
I can see how that all would take 10 hours, almost as if you could detail a car with no paint and get great results on bare metal.
