Discussion: Adam's new Wheel Woolie

Recommended Posts

So its basically the medium woolie head on a 12" 45 degree handle right?

Dimensions:  One Size: 1/2" x 13" Shaft with a 6" Wool Head that is at a 45 degree angle. The Wool Head has a 2.5" diameter.

If this is successful from Braun, is the smaller wheel woolie (now upgraded to a 45 degree handle as well) coming in the future too?

My BMW 18" wheels and brakes are just too close together to get the medium regular wheel woolie (or anything that diameter) in between.  I use the smallest one to do that job.

Nick I'll be adding your new Woolie on my next order, will complete my set with the "old" Adam's spec'd Woolies!

I like that your head is fluffier with more fibers, I have the regular spoke back woolie and don't feel it's as "fluffy" as I'd like, I'll give it to my FIL and pick up yours on my next restocking!  Great job on this one.

Really a fan of the woolie - had never used one prior to this and never knew how easy it could be to clean (most of) the barrel of the wheel.

Three suggestions:

1) add one more in a smaller size

2) stiffen the handle/pole - I find when i go to really scrub, the pole flexes and it would be easier with a stiffer shaft (that's what she said)

3) maybe offer the smaller size at a right angle, as opposed to 45*. With a right angle, I would be able to get behind each spoke easily to do a more thorough job

Overall, I would rate the tool a B+ - makes the job a lot easier, but being able to get directly behind the spokes would be that final touch

FWIW if you used Adam's new woolie, along with the original large woolie, and the smaller spoke back woolie you would have a perfect set.  The smaller spoke back woolie has a smaller head for easier reach behind spokes/calipers, still with a 12" handle though at a 45.

The long woolie I use the most to really scrub barrels.  I like the pole flexibility because it gives it a bit more ease of movement when working on the rounded wheel area, I think you need the flexibility to be able to clean efficiently.

Good to know re: the smaller head/45* angle. Will have to seek one out!

I think a swivel head should be considered. I always feel like I'm losing my grip. When trying to deal with the 45 on the brush it feels like your wrist takes on some difficult angles and the handle slides around in your hand

While I think that would be convenient, I also think it might lose the integrity of scrubbing power if the head of the woolie is always moving. I'm not too sure though, we could be thinking of two different ideas!
