Power Tool Warranty Update:

Adam

Recommended Posts

Friends, first, thanks for your business!   I'd like to make clear our return policy on polishers, vacuums, etc:

Send in your broken polisher or vacuum, that you bought from us before October 11, 2014, and we will send it in for repair, and have it back to you in 2-3 weeks.   While the majority of the returns are with Flex Polishers, we will certainly repair MetroVac's as well.

I'm sure you will be amazed to know, we have gotten returns of polishers & vacuums sold by other retailers, years before we offered them, used up, broken, then returned to us for a refund.  (For good reason, nobody else offers a lifetime warranty on power tools.)  That's why we always track serial numbers of units we sell.

Certainly, we are the only company that we know, that offered a lifetime warranty on power tools.  Polishers and vacuums die, just like all power tools, with use, and especially, abuse.

You should see the Flex that came back today!   Used completely TO DEATH, and certainly, we are going to repair it.  (Bought by a high volume detailer in 2012, who estimated that he did 300-400 vehicles with it.)    Did he get his money worth?  Did the machine perform as advertised, for about $1/ car?  I'd say yes.  Still, we are paying for his refurb, and he will get his machine back asap.

Adam's is a small, reasonable company.  We offer great products, world class service, but cannot offer repairs or refunds on tools that are used/ abused, literally to death, or sold by another retailer.

If you purchased a power tool before October 10, 2014, your power tool can be repaired on our dime.  From October 11, 2014, forward, we will honor all manufacturer warranties on power tools.

Our American Made Cyclo Polishers carry a 3-year, unlimited warranty, and our USA-made MetroVac units carry a 1 year warranty.   We will honor those warranties, as we truly believe in these great American units.

Thank you again for your business, and understanding.

Why can't people just be honest?  If something where to happen to one of my tools personally I would fix it myself.  I buy my tools from Adams to support the business as they have always treated me the customer fair.  The schematics to all the tools are available on line and parts are easy to come by.  Society now days wants something for nothing, which is where I have a problem.  Sorry guys, but sometimes I have a hard time biting my tongue.

Here is my opinion on warranties.  If the tool fails in the manufacturer warranty than there may be an manufacturing issue.  If you get past that point then you have a good tool.  Take care of it an maintain it.  I have a variety of power tools, and have only had the brushes wear out in one of my chop saws.  Cost me only about $2 to replace the brushes and it is still working to this day.  Brushes are a normal wear item, just like your brakes on your car.

If your using your tool in a professional setting, (by professional I mean for a business) don't expect your tool to last forever.  Consider it the cost of doing business.  Things wear as they are used.  For the average Joe, I'am sure your tools will last long enough to be passed to your kids.

IMO, I'am really surprised that Adam offered the warranty as long as he did.  But like everything else in life, when it gets abused it comes to an end.  And you can't blame him for doing it.  No power tool manufacturer that I'am aware of offered or offers a warranty like Adam did.

If I need a tool, I'll buy it from Adam's because I buy from Adam's.  However, I wonder how many people bought a tool from Adam's just for the warranty and never bought another Adam's product.  For the most part, these tools cost the same everywhere, so why should someone choose Adam's now if they have no intention of using other Adam's products?

My guess is that not many people did that anyway and that's why Adam felt comfortable ending the warranty.  It would still be cool if he offered to double the manufacturer's warranty or offered to extend it for a small fee.  Basically an incentive for non Adam's users to buy from Adam's.

People just need to check their credit cards. There are a bunch of them that will add an extra year to the manufacturers just because they bight the item with that particular card.

Maybe Adam can check into Square Trade to offer extended warranties, that is their game.

Thanks friends, and remember, if you bought something from us, and it fails, we are going to stand behind it.  We are not going to say, "Oh, bummer, you are on your own.  Call the mfg, and they will handle it."

That's not how we roll, and anyone that has had an issue with any of our products will confirm this.

One of the reasons we now sell the Cyclo:  It's an incredibly sturdy machine, and no matter how hard it's used, abused, and trashed, it lives on!

We are still going to guarantee everything we sell with a 110% Guarantee.   The power tool warranties have been abused like crazy, and we cannot continue to replace machines that have been used / abused, and are then returned, completely clapped out.   (The majority of our returns on machines were units that were used professionally, clapped out, and up for replacement.)

Suppose that's why cars have a warranty that expresses both a number of years, or miles, whichever comes first.  How realistic is the customer who takes his/her car into the dealership for a warranty repair with 110K miles on the clock?   Are they really surprised, or just bummed to learn the warranty ended 50K or 60K miles ago?

I bought my flex from an Adams Reseller I think as one of the "detail kits". I was wondering if that is covered? Nothing is wrong with it now, just curious for the future. Or if you can check my serial number, maybe?

I have dealt with Adams now for 6 going on 7 years and I have nothing but respect for what he does and his company has been more then fair with any and all customer service. But he is in a business and has family to support so I understand you can only do so much so do what you got to do. I believe my flex was purchased under you about 2 or 3 yrs ago so I know I am good but I also don't beat on it either when I feel it getting really warm or hot I put it down for a while and move on to cleaning something else. I have no issue with what you are doing.

After talking with a few different people at Sema I have decided to get my first polisher. I was bragging to my buddies about your lifetime warranty. They couldn't believe it either. Everyone at the different booths suggested a Flex over a Cyclo if I'm only settling for one. Then I talked to the lady in the Cyclo booth and she suggested I buy the Cyclo (through Adam's even though I could of bought it there at Sema) because of the bulletproof design and the lifetime warranty.

Funny I came across this post. I called Adam's today (and also sent a message via Instagram) and was told the same thing by both- my Flex that I purchased around 2012 was not covered under any warranty and they had no evidence of ever providing a lifetime warranty. Before I lost it on someone I reminded them that I'm pretty sure my Master Blaster and Flex were purchased during a period where lifetime warranties were offered on tools so I came here to confirm. Now my Flex has probably been used less than 10 times and I've spent probably in the area of $2000 or more over the years on Adam's products, so before anyone accuses me of being a pro or someone who bought one item, that's not me. But I went to polish my vehicle yesterday and the pad that has the velcro on it started disintegrating until it completely fell off. Obviously I'm not in need of a new polisher nor was I expecting or trying to get one, but if you're going to offer a lifetime warranty then offer a lifetime warranty and don't BS me and send me to Amazon to buy a replacement part. Ironically when going thru my supplies a few days ago I discovered a gallon of Total Interior Detailer leaking all over my storage cabinets (a pic was provided). I was also told there's no replacement for leaking bottles any longer- which I explained that I could remember the days when I had an issue with a product and someone was eager to make it right and replace whatever was broken, etc. I went as far as telling the associate today that I'm not asking for a free gallon, but at least you can send me an empty gallon bottle so I can salvage what's left in mine- Nope. Go figure I tried out my new Ceramic Paint Coating Kit yesterday and went to apply the boost today as suggested by the videos and the sprayer head on the brand new unopened bottle of boost broke on me. I don't know what's changed over at Adam's because I've been pretty detached from the detailing stuff after my daughter was born and I started a second job, but I miss the old days where things were done differently. Part of the reason I spent more money buying products that could be sourced elsewhere for less was because of the great warranty and because I was a die hard Adam's Polishes Fan who turned a handful of people into fans.

That sounds crazy Tony!  Not how we roll, typically....but...it sounds like we gave you some poor customer service.  I apologize, and we typically offer a higher level of customer care.  I've sent you an email.  We can certainly make this right.  Looks like your Flex backing plate disintegrated.  In fact, we haven't carried that tool in years, and we don't carry backing plates.  As for the leaky gallon of TID, and broken cap on the Ceramic Boost, certainly, we can make that right.  However, the gallon is likely expired, judging by the label.  I believe it's a 2012-2013 blend date?   If it works for you, order this Flex backing plate from Amazon, and we will get you a $100 store credit to shop as you wish!

Sending you an email now....thanks Tony,

Thanks a mil Adam. That’s exactly how I remember things back when I was hitting the detailing hard. I appreciate you making things right, it’s the reason I’ve always been a loyal customer.

Don't feel bad I asked if I could purchase a couple gallon jugs to consolidate a couple bottles that were broken.  I was told by Colton, that that was a special request and it could not be processed by Adams on Facebook.  I was alittle shocked, that after spending 2500$ in less than two years.  I decided to part ways, I sold alot of my extra stuff I stocked to help out friends, and am actually in the process of trying to find a different brand.  It's sad my business was lost over $10 in jugs.

That's how it was about 2 years ago when I started, now its just OK at the best.  But looks like Adam still has the right ideas, and his employees might just reminded of the values!
