Garage redo!

Sizzle Chest

Recommended Posts

Decided to redo my garage.  When we remodeled our kitchen I took our old cabinets and put them out in the garage.  Got some 'faux' granite tops and put them on.  Worked out great!  I had purchased some 86"x48"x12" deep shelves from Amazon and that's what I had all of my detailing supplies/stuff on.

It looked a little 'messy' and I wanted to make it more 'clean' tidy.  So...

You can see my shelves behind me in this pic:

I really like it better now!  I did lose a little space for larger items, due to the cabinets having a much bigger area under them than the new 'toolbox/workbench', however, I just had to organize a little more and get it all setup!

I still have to do a 'final' organizing and tidy it up a bit more!  Thank the 'crazy person' inside of me can relax a little!  LOL

Thanks for looking!

^^^I have.  My friend Charlie has a 'mini-split' system in his garage and I am envious!  I will do it one day, but for now, I get by with those fans moving some air.  (My garage is 800 sq ft and it would be about $3K or so to put in one of those AC systems)

No I had no experience......I installed it then I had my local shop come up and charge my line sets.

I bought my Mitsubishi Mr.Slim at Acwholesalers.com

Just curious Chris, what is the square footage of your garage, and how many BTU's did you go with?  I know general rule of thumb is 12,000 BTU, which is equivalent to 1 ton of cooling capacity for every 500 square feet.  There is a long drawn out formula called a Manual J, but for a garage I don't think it is really necessary.  Did you have the A/C guy that charged your system make your line set connections and did he solder, or braz, being that it is necessary to have nitrogen in the system to prevent copper oxide?  Just curious as to how detailed the instructions are.  In layman's terms is it a Factory Manual or a Chilton.  Not asking for myself just trying to make others aware that may be reading this thread.

I can see where a handy person would find installing one of these pretty simple.  Some may be nervous with electricity, as running a line to your main panel with a 30 amp disconnect in between and installed near the outdoor unit would be required.

My garage is 728 sq. ft. And I think I got 24,000 unit. Can't remember exactly what the A/C guy did with the line set.

So did the A/C guy make all of your line set connections on the blower and condenser side and the bends outside where the line set enters the house for example?
