Need help with tire coating

jshookz

Question

-Continental ExtremeContact DWS on my camaro and I went to an installer to get black pearl installed twice. The tires have 6000 miles on them, the installer scrubbed the tires with omni-clean and other chemicals to try to get rid of anything on the tire so I know the tires were clean as a whistle. But each time a week after the tire shine would not be there and I'm left with a dry looking tire. Is the tire not being cleaned well enough or can nothing stick to these tires?

I'm looking for a high glossy effect so I was thinking if I should grab some Adams VRT and try that over black pearl?

-Black Pearl also states that the wet glossy tire look should last 6-8 months

Thanks

My assumption from what I was told was that black pearl is a tire shine. So just applying black pearl and that IS the fire shine if that makes sense.

Maybe these tires aren't made for tire shine..

This is confusing. It sounds like the question is about the Black Pearl tire coating not staying shiny, and is not about the Adam's product called "Tire Shine".

I agree.

From their website: Black Pearl Trim and Tire Armour Is not affected by rain, snow, road salt, detergents or the car wash, and will not evaporate on hot, sunny days. The finish will remain noticeably blacker and shinier than untreated tires for several months under typical (city/highway) driving conditions.

Sounds like there's no need to add an additional dressing to the tire, and either it is not bonding to his tires, or the OP doesn't like the shine it has after the first week.

I just used Tire Shine today for the first time. Smell is good, and looks great!

Some tires are more finicky than others. My new tires didn't take a coating very well at first after cleaning them. They did however take a tire gel very well. After a few weeks of using tire gel, the coating took to the surface with no issues. That is after cleaning the tires prior to using the tire coating.

Good luck.

The black pearl tire shine that is applied looks wet and glossy when first applied but after a week of driving the tires look dry and no coating.

I was just seeing if it was the tires not taking the black pearl product by not adhearing to the tire itself :P

Thanks everyone!

New tires tend to end up having left over mold release on them from the manufacturing process. Conti's seem to be worse about it than most.

I had to scrub a new set with a dry cotton terry towel to get the release agent off of them before being able to hit it with even tire shine.

BUT with that said OP had them coated already so this is a whole other can of worms.

Edited the title of this thread to refer to "tire coating" instead of "Tire Shine".
