H20 guard and gloss

Why do we quote longevity in terms of washes? Some people wash multiple times per week some people only once or twice a month. So saying every 4 washes could be every 2 weeks for some people or every 3 months

Exactly, which is why I quoted my recommended time in units of time but I guess it's how we often tell people distance in units of time rather than units of distance.

To put things into perspective I apply H20 Guard and Gloss to our mobile detailing VW Caddy. And it does see some abuse and the harsh Australian environment. I apply Guard & Gloss at the beginning of every month and wash maintenance is real low.

All it takes to clean the Caddy with regular applications is a pressure wash, foam lance, rinse and it's back to fresh and clean paint.

Welcome to the Forums!

Great advice above, most likely your millage will vary due to driving habits and surface prep. From all the stuff I have read on here it seems to be at least a month and for most longer than that. Even Adam will tell you it depends on many factors, not the least of which are things like:

Where do you park,

What has the weather been

How much do you drive it

what type of weather do you drive it in

How often do you wash

What do you wash with

What other products do you use

These are just some basics that would all contribute to a products life span on the vehicle.

My statement about the consensus was from reading around the forums. I've never used the product but I would be willing to bet using a wash mitt regardless of how soft it is wears down on a product. So it is possible that protection could last longer if you wash once per month opposed to once per week.

If your using a PH balanced soap when you wash (you are aren't you?), like Adams Car Shampoo, HGG will last at least 2 months when applied over a primary sealant, like Adams Liquid Paint Sealant, or a clean surface with nothing on it, I've also applied it over wax, it lasted 7 weeks.

For best protection apply Adams Liquid Paint Sealant first, then follow up every couple months with HGG, you can apply it monthly if you like.

There are many factors that go into determining how long a sealant will last. The major factors are if your car is stored in a garage or outside, how many miles are driven, the type of weather conditions your vehicle is exposed to, how well your paint was prepped prior to applying the sealant, type of shampoo used to wash, and type of sealant used.

A wash mitt will not degrade your sealant, as you should be just gliding it across the surface to remove the dirt, film, and dust the shampoo has loosened from the surface. Not "scrubbing" the surface with it.

The key is to reapply your coat of protection before the previous coat runs out. As you maintain your vehicle, keep an eye out for how well the water beads and sheets off your paint. If water begins to pool on your paint, then chances are there is little to no protection remaining and it's time to apply another coat of sealant.
