Cleaning "velour" seats.

Zach5.9CTD

Question

Hey guys. I just bought a set of used procar racing seats for my c10. They seats need some MAJOR TLC in the cleaning dept. Just not sure what exactly velour material is and how to care for it vs normal upholstery. Here's a picture of the seats in their current state.

It is most likely a material similar to alcantara or suede, but I would need a more close-up picture of the material to tell. No matter what, you will want to take special care when cleaning it. Do not use Leather & Interior Cleaner on them.

Instead, use warm water to dampen an Edgeless Utility Towel or lightly spray Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner into an Edgeless Utility Towel, and then gently wipe the towel on a small, inconspicous test area of the seat, such as the bottom of the seat. For those stains down near the bottom of the seat, warm water may not take those out, so that is where you may need the Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner.

You can then use our Cockpit Brush to brush the material and fluff it back up some if it appears matted down.

There's a great Ask the Shine Doc video on proper cleaning of alcantara and suede interior pieces here: http://www.adamsforums.com/topic/28617-ask-the-shine-doc-ep-5-caring-for-suede-faux-suede/
