Wash pad care

chops1sc

Question

I just wanted to share my wash pad care process. I've had this pad for over a year and I noticed it started looking rough. I always wash my pads with my regular laundry after each use and about every 2 months or so I brush them out with a dog hair brush. This particular pad hasn't been brushed out in about 6 months, lol!

I tried soaking it in APC and water 3 times. each time working it over like Rocky on a side of ribs. All it got was the water dirtier and the crap just stayed.

I did buy a new pad during the last MB special. This one is saved for grungy wheels and fender liners. No reason to throw something away that can still scrub the out of site plastic trim.

I would invest in some of the new tire and rubber cleaner after that, wow.

I actually got it in the last MB special last month. I will be trying it out on my Tundra that just sits in the driveway collecting dust. That ones going to need a full  full detail. I honestly cant remember the last time I even washed it. And the last time it was detailed, was probably 5 years ago (shh, dont tell anybody that). I will probably try and due a write up on it when I get to it in the next month.

What dog hair brush do you use? Do you think you could share a link please.

Thought this was a great idea so I tried it out on my Wash Pads.  Even though they've only gone through a few washes after about a month, they were starting to feel rough so I thought I would get a head start on maintenance:

Thanks again for the tip.

You're welcome! I used to just spray my wash pads off with the hose and hang to dry but I noticed some tiny leaf fragments and other debris would get caught in the nap. Since then I wash and dry them after each use. Having 4 pads ensures that I will always have a clean and fluffy pad everytime.
