Best way to clean pads?

1BADCUMMINS

Question

What is the best way to clean my foam and microfiber polishing pads? I'm going to be getting my truck show ready pretty quickly here and would like to know what is the best was to clean the pads and dry them so that they are ready for the next day. My time is limited so i know it is going to take me multiple days to do this. I was considering buying a pad washer that goes with a 5 Gallon bucket, but if there is a better way or cheaper I'd like to know. TIA

When I finish with a pad I spritz it with APC, then place it face down in a bucket water (or left over washing solution), with the Grit Guard on top of them to keep them submerged.  Once I finish with my polishing for the day, I take them out of the water, rinse them out, spray more APC on them, and scrub them on the Grit Guard.  Rinse them until the water is clean, then place them upside down on the Grit Guard to dry.

Like MC2 said, I've used APC and let them air dry.  Soaking them definitely helps.  Since your pressed for time, I'd suggest buying a couple extra pads.  If you have access to a dehumidifier you can place the pads next to it, right side up along with a fan to help with the drying process.

I'm about to purchase my first DA. Trying to think it all out prior to purchase. Looking for ease of use and versatility. I want on machine for 6 inch, 3 inch backing plates and a leather cleaning brush. Quick changing backing plates and a great warranty. Swirl Killer or GG6 ?

Pad cleaning with what type of APC ? Simple Green ? Is it basically you want them soaking right away ? I've seen all these grit guard products. So can you just rub them against something like these ?

Why, Adam's APC, of course! ;)
