H20 GG over Undercarriage spray?

Hey guys,

 

Just wondering if anyone has done this to keep their wheel arch trims looking good for more than a week? I figure using the G&G would 'lock in' the look of the undercarriage spray and keep the plastics protected at the same time, as well as making them easier to clean during the weekly wash.

 

Any thoughts? A good/bad idea?

It won't work.  The silicon in the UCS would prevent the HGG from sticking. 

 

For a long-lasting solution, you might consider using CTC on the plastics in the wheel wells.

I was thinking of that, but I have 3 16oz G&G sitting here that I'm not going to get through (from MB) and as the trim coating is quite expensive here in Australia, is it possible just to use G&G by itself as a temporary coating?

G&G is targeted for quick paint protection and drying assist. I can't imagine how it would be beneficial on plastics especially in wheel wells.

I thought the hydrophobic properties of it would help stop water and stuff building up on them, helping them stay a bit cleaner for longer - good to know an answer either way

Go ahead and apply it to the wheel wells (without UCS), it won't hurt. And use it on the rest of the car for that matter!

Further, why do you still have 3 16oz. G&G? Use this as a drying agent every wash and you'll notice the benefits. Use it on glass, trim, paint, wheels. Everything!

 

If you're not satisfied with G&G let's swap them for something else for you.

G&G is great stuff, but every wash? Yikes!

 

G&G will work well on the trim. As for the plastic inside the wheel wells, it may not survive wet roads...but it's worth a try.

Hey Joseph - I love the G&G, but I have a small car, so I don't use all that much, I still have 3/4 of the bottle I bought just after Christmas! It's one of my favourite products, and I wish I used more of it to keep my car looking great   I am picking up another car on the weekend, and it will be getting the paint sealant and G&G treatment, as long as the weather holds out! It does have a lot of black trim though (bumpers etc) so it could be a candidate for coating...

That was my thinking as well - I know wheel trims are often forgotten, but I clean mine every wash, and would love to keep them even a little bit protected.

Good questions. I actually used the dry method after a standard wash. I had dried the wheel wells in preparation for the Undercarriage Spray, and thought maybe I'd try something different. I can't tell you exactly how long it lasted as Florida roads are wet a lot, but I can remember looking at it a few days later and it still looked great. As for how long it was able to shed water like G&G does on paint, I can't tell you for sure.

Yes. I only applied it to my front wheel wells because they have a dark black plastic liner. The G&G did leave them with a nice, clean shine.
