Ceramic paint coating

Recommended Posts

Hi i am new to the ceramic paint coatings but i saw the hydrophobic tests on youtube of others and went with Adam's as i heard they make amazing stuff. Today it rained and noticed the water beads alot (even on the side of the car) but does not sheet off like the others in the videos. Anyone know if this one does this or what i should do? Its only been on a week and only used the ceramic boost

Falling rain and sheeting water from a hose are not the same thing.  Apples and oranges.  Take a water hose and try it yourself and see if it performs.

^ I agree. I have a ceramic coating on my car and when I spray it with a hose or someone pours water onto the car, it'll slide right off. In the rain, however, the water beads and sits on the surface of the car. When I stop or accelerate, some of the beads will slide off, but not all.

You're comparing different surfaces and expecting the same results obtained with different products.  There's a lot wrong there.  Let's also add that if you don't wash your vehicle, the contaminants that are sitting on the coating waiting to be washed will completely change how the water reacts to the coating.

When you're watching videos of how coatings react to water keep a couple of things in mind.  They're all freshly detailed vehicles.  The water action is shown from a sheeting hose.  Mist water on the vehicle and you'll get a different effect.  Do it on a vehicle before and after a wash and you'll have two different results.

A week of driving on a daily driver is enough to capture contaminants.  Give your car a wash and compare the results at that point.  I'll bet you find a different result.

The comparison between the glass and paint was simply to give an idea as there are no photos also the car was outside for less than 4 hours since using the ceramic boost as I was not using the car alot. Just posted as i am no pro and its first time using this product so not sure if i need another coat or if it is normal

  • 2 weeks later...

I used Adams Paint Coating along with the Wheel and Trim Coatings on our black Volvo.  This was the first time using ceramic coatings.  WOW.  Amazing stuff and not hard at all to use.  It is going to be tough to go back to wax or sealants.  The only problem I have is why I waited so long to use it.  The trim is also awesome.  Now onto our new Corvette.
