Olgrey93
Hi all. I'm about to get ready to polish my wife's black Acadia. What are y'all using for detailing tape?
0 Jheeman
Hey there Collin, go over to the paint correction and polish sub forum, I had just asked the question recently and got a lot of good answers, let me know if you don't see it, and I'll link it. 0 ocdrifter
Collin, Walmart has the best prices on either the blue tape or green tape that painters use. Checo
0 Ls1transam
I use the green style. It's very flexible and doesn't feel extremely tacky either.

0 Nathan
Just use the normal 3m blue painters tape. You can find it at Walmart for a couple bucks. Â I wouldn't recommend frog tape. I've heard people having problems with it and I haven't had good results when using it. 0 ocdrifter
No don't use frog tape it won't come off the car and then you'll have a mess, the green one I'm talking about is also made by 3M it's a little better than the blue tape but both work just fine. At the Walmart close to my house they usually have a three pack and it even saves you more money. A Is the green one called frog tape or something along those lines? 0 Norton
FAQ - "What kind of tape should I use to mask off trim?" Edited June 10, 2017 by Norton
0 falcaineer
I realize it won't do anything for sharp emblems and the like, but depending on what you are masking off, VRT does an awesome job at protecting trim from residue stains. Apply it after the strip wash phase, before clay/polish/etc., and anything you get on the trim (except maybe the coating?) will wipe off easily with a MF towel. Then touch up any necessary areas when you're done.
