Glass cleaning

Nathan

Question

I really hate cleaning glass.

I always end up running into the problem of having streaks on the glass, I clean in the shade, with Adams green glass towels, and the 16oz liquid glass cleaner. You can't see the streaks except in the sun...anyone have any tips or advice because I can't have streaks on customers cars. I haven't tried the aerosol glass cleaner yet, because I don't know how economical it will be for my business.

Oh Nate dawg, have you tried these two ways that I use.

1. I use the waterless waffle weave towels to clean glass, I also spray directly onto the towel and not the glass and flipping the towel or using two towels.

2. My second way I clean windows is I use any microfiber to clean glass also spraying directly on the towel and not on the glass, then I get a cotton diaper and buff the windows to a sparkle which leaves them cleeeeean.

Another hint is not to clean warn to hot windows as this can cause streaking.

Let me know if you try these ways and does it help you solve your problem?

If there are streaks in your glass there is something else on it still. I had problems until I learned to spend a little extra time every now and again on my glass and keep it smooth and clean.

1. Get a little aggresive with your glass, it can take it, if you have not clayed it, do so. If you see haze or anything still get out the brilliant glaze, you can also try #0000 steel wool (My personal typical choice its just easy)

2. are you sure its on the outside of the glass? I have had some streaks on the interior of mine that I thought were outside in the past. I have learned long ago to clean the inside of the glass in one direction, and the outside in the opposite. Meaning if inside is up and down outside is left to right.

3. Shade has never been an issue for me, but if you are trying to clean the entire windshield in one pass that could be it. I do half and half and it seems to go well.

4. Is your towel clean? I am sure its clean when you start but have you folded it over to ensure you are always using a clean surface.

I too hate cleaning glass and have gone to this method. I started with using the Adams aerosol but am moving to the Adams glass cleaner mostly due to the fact that I can get it by the gallon and can easily see how much product I have so I won't run out.

Since I am washing my own cars, I do keep the glass clayed so that I am not fighting too many unknowns. I guess that may not be time practical in a commercial application.

The new aerosol does wonders to reduce streaks, I use it in conjunction with the semi-hated microfiber Adam's glass towels (I like them) and find the paring to work great on exterior glass. I should note that it isn't recommended on tint due to some of the chemicals in it. As noted above, #0000 Steel Wool will buff down the exterior like you've never seen, knocks out wiper tracks with ease.

Interior glass I clean with the normal Adam's Glass cleaner and normal towel (green or blue), but then follow up with a coating of brilliant glaze and my glass ends up looking better than I've even gotten it  before.

Haven't tried the waffle weave but will try that.

Thanks everyone else!

I'm a rebel I've been using the adams aerosol window cleaner on my tinted vehicle, it doesn't affect it and if it does it has a lifetime warranty.

The aerosol is fantastic and a single can goes a long way, I can tell stories...

My favorite thing to do is wipe the outside of the window vertically and the inside horizontally so if for whatever reason I do get a streak I know for sure where it is.

It's been said but change to a clean towel frequently and use less cleaner than you think. A little goes a long way.

Hope this helps.

I have yet to meet the person who loves to clean glass. I use the green towels, either Adams glass cleaner, but I like the aerosol better, and brilliant glaze on inside. Clay the glass will help a lot as well.

Ive had good luck with the older blue glass towels and the liquid glass cleaner. I just make sure not to use too much spray as that leaves streaks behind. Once im finishing and the towel is already damp, I spray even less on the last window.

Just make sure you use a clean cotton diaper...otherwise you will have bigger issues.

My biggest issue with glass is that by the time I'm ready to clean it, I'm dealing with warm/hot windows and temperatures.

HA!!!!!

id like to try Adams version of the aerosol. Honestly, up against everything else, adams always comes out on top.

i REALLY do love the glass boost. i applied it and its working swimmingly! My glass is always sealed, too... and clayed... so prepping for it and then applying it was awesome. So yah, im reiterating how much i love it.
