Do a small test spot to see what you need, start with the least aggressive first (correcting polish). And then go to the compound if required.

 

For after the test spot once you know you need compound, you need to follow compound with a polish.

Welcome Jorge,

 

I'm going to say it all depends what your trying to accomplish, with your finish and what condition is it in. I have a 11 year old black truck that I have never corrected, and it looks very good. I wax it bi weekly though. So if your finish does need to be corrected then I would do like the rest above me have already stated.
