VRT on running boards

Scooter McGoo

Question

Does anyone use an alternative for running boards other than VRT.  It looks amazing, but as the bottle says, they are super slippery to the point of being dangerous. I am conscious of it when I step on the drivers side, and can keep myself from slipping, but the last thing I want is a passenger to put all their weight on the board and slip and fall.

My vote goes for Ceramic Trim Coating as well. 10+ months now and going strong on a few vehicles I've coated.

You must make sure to clean the running boards of all product prior to applying it though, so make sure to give them a very thorough cleaning with the Tire & Rubber Cleaner included in the kit.

I never treated my Westin Bars, I had them adjusted as close to the body as I could which meant God forbid you slipped it was a loooong way to the ground. I'd test any coating during a rain storm to make sure it doesn't make the slick.

I did my driver side only with VRT, for the reasons you stated, they were slippery until it rained or got washed. The second time i did it, i waited a week so it could settle in and then GG over top to "seal" the VRT in
