noquarter
I am getting a new set of wheels and I want to coat them. I was just wondering if it ok to coat them before having the tires put on them? 1. Will the tire weights stick properly to the ceramic coated wheel? 2. Can the instillation of the tire cause scratching to the coating. Thanks, JC

A good wheel and tire shop should not scratch a the finish. Worst case is you have to touch up a small area.
0 noquarter
No the weights will not stick to the wheel properly after they are coated. if that's the case, it basically means you have strip the coating every time you get new tires? hmmm
0 red94chev
I cant imagine the weights having a problem sticking to the coating. I would probably coat before getting the tires put on but that's just me.
0 BRC
My shop just removed the coating (not sure what they used), and it worked just fine. I would just let them know it's on there and I'm sure they'll have something that can strip the coating off of the section they have to apply the weights.
