Quick question on the Hand Revive Polish

demonbat1

Question

Hey guys,

So I bought my first wash kit like 3 weeks ago and washed my new grabber blue ecoboost mustang and loved it.  I am trying to seal the paint for the first time but I have some questions.

Should I use hand revive polish, I purchased some because I was under the impression that I need to polish the car before I seal the paint, but after watching chris fixes videos on yt it doesn't seem like its 100% necessary ( something I should apply incase I need it). Any recommendations? The paint on my mustang looks like its scratch free and maybe I should just look for spots to apply the hand revive polish as opposed to polishing the whole car?

My plan was to wash the car then clay the whole car, polish what needs polishing, and then sealing the paint. This may be the wrong section, but should I strip wash ( blue dawn soap) the car? I don't believe the car has ever had sealant or wax's since I got it from the dealer, or should I use blue dawn to make sure all the grease gets removed before I clay/polish/ seal?

Final Question: If I polish a spot, after I buff it out, should I use soapy water to get remaining oils out before I seal? Im assuming I should as I want as much of the sealant on the paint coat.

thanks for the help

-Roger

polish is not 100% necessary. Only you can be the judge of how good or bad your paint is, so if its already in perfect shape, no need to polish. If you do see any swirls or scratches, then yes its a good idea to polish.

A good idea would be to try revive in a small less noticeable area of the car. If it makes it looks better, then do the whole car, but if you dont see a difference, you can just skip on it

Claying is not necessary and should be avoided. Only clay if you need too, so if they area passes the bag test then it doesn’t need claying. Polishing is also not necessary, but since this is a mustang, I would probably polish it anyways to make the paint pop more! Once you are done polishing, you could do a 50/50 isopropyl wipedown or wash with strip wash or Adam’s shampoo with apc added.

I would NOT use dawn. Put the dish soap back in the kitchen. Add 1-2 oz APC to Adams Car Shampoo or use the strip wash.

Adam's recommends adding a few ounces of APC to the Car Wash Shampoo wash bucket vs. Dawn to 'strip' the paint of waxes and sealants.

The Revive polish is not completely necessary, but it is a good paint cleaner.  You could use it after you clay (if it  needed), to remove any oils from the paint.  It will not remove swirls or scratches.

Thanks guys! appreciate the feedback.

I think ive decided on

Washing --> Claying the car ( needs it , ive been driving it for about 3 -1 month without any type of protection) --> Dry --> light polish to the areas that need it --> Paint Sealer --> wax.

ill post pictures later on once I do it all.
