Temp VS Products

SS LeadFoot

Question

So I have discovered that keeping products isn't a good thing. I recently moved into a new home and the garage gets really hot! like70- 80ish. I can imagine it will also get cold in th ewinter. Can I still keep my products in the garage or is that too hot?

As mentioned, there should be no problem. Matter of fact I think freezing temps do more damage, but you can worry about that in the winter lol

But just as reference, here where it can get up to over 120 degrees, I keep my americana paste wax indoors, and also heavy correcting compound. The paste wax was by recommendation, and the compound had separated into liquid and solid, but once i brought it inside, it went back to normal.

All my other products have been fine so far in the garage.

Those temp ranges are exceptable for storage of chemicals.  I used to keep all my products out in the garage during the summer and then bring them in the basement for the colder New England months.  I am lazy / too much stuff so I just keep it all in the basement now.

My 'thin' liquids (APC, wheel cleaners, wash products, VRT, etc.) and hard products (clay, mitts, etc.) are left in the garage year-round.  Waxes, sealants, coatings, polishes, and Leather Conditioner are kept inside.

You guys think your orders aren't sitting in the back of a 1,000 degree FedEx for a week in the summer?

Nope. But then again, I'm only an hour south!

Really good article on this subject here, http://www.adamsforums.com/topic/17083-faq-do-the-products-have-a-shelf-life/. Bottom line, the products all respond differently to temp swings, and storing in a temp controlled environment is preferred. I know it can get cold in MD, too. And since shelves can be cheap (cough, Harbor Freight, cough), I stand by my recommendation above. It's your money, though, so your call.
