Polishing Gel Coat

philhibner

Question

Hey guys need some input...

Just bought my very first boat, 2000 Bayliner Capri 1950. Its all white, and the paint is slightly faded with minor scratches and swirls in the gel coat. I am wondering if I can take my SK to the gel coat to polish up paint. What products can I use, what products do I need to stay away from, and any special methods? Thanks in advance.

You can use all Adam’s compounds and polishes on gel coat. Gel coat is hard to work with because it is very thick and tough, that being said, it is hard to burn through as well. You will want the correcting compound. Good luck!

Great results man! I will have to test this out this winter. I will be sure to do a write up/review.
