Think your carpets are clean? This comes out of the extractor...

shane@detailedreflections

Question

So my daughter got her first vehicle and as part of a birthday present for her, we brought it into the shop to give it some love. One of the things that surprises me more than anything else is what lives inside seemingly clean carpets. Her car is a 2004 Volvo XC90 with 154,000 miles on it. It’s pretty clean given the age and miles. But it wasn’t our version of clean. We went to work and after we drained out our extractor like we do every job and clean it out. This time I had the forethought to capture photos of what came out of the extractor.

This is what lives in your carpets...the carpets have now been cleaned with steam, compressed air via a tornador tool (which is a great addition to any serious detailers toolbox) and a hot water extractor. Adam’s Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner was used throughout.

Something to think about next time you think carpets are “clean.”

It always amazes me how much dirt and gunk you can pull from carpets! I just did a Silverado last weekend that had what seemed like a full cup of coffee spilled into the driver-side rear seat carpet. I pulled out 5 tanks worth of completely black water using my little Hoover spot cleaner and Adam's Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner before it was only pulling up clean water!

Thanks for the share and great pictures!
