Dusty Environments

TexWalker

Question

While I live in the suburbs, my cars get shockingly dusty in a day, add in the fact that I work downwind from a giant preserve and I am fighting a losing battle. Is there anyway to keep them dust free? If I waterless wash often enough to keep them clean, I'll need to take a second mortgage out on the house. Any recommendations? What do you guys do to keep your cars looking nice? I almost wish I could use a california duster, but I am not willing to add swirls and scratches to be dust free for a few hours.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

My dad uses the same garage to cut wood in the winter, even with a dust extractor it gets dusty. Compressed air is your friend, if you have a thing that blows up air beds that workks too

Besides parking upwind and walking, you'll likely need to focus on cleaning when possible vs. it not getting dusty. So you know, diluting RW 16:1 creates a WW-like solution that can be used for the same purposes. It won't smell as aweosme, in my opinion, but it will get the job done at a much more economical price point. That, or buy a light-colored car that doesn't show dust as much (I assume your's is dark/black).

I have 2 white, a silver and a black vehicle. The white shows the dust like no ones business, especially the Bmw!!! Parking and walking isn’t an option, the closest upwind exit its 5 miles or so up the freeway.

Compressed air is a really good idea! You guys are the best.

I recently coated my car and after driving it around a couple days, I’ve noticed nothing sticks to it anymore. So if you have the opportunity, a coating would provide the slickness you’re looking for.

At the end of the day, dust will settle regardless, but with some wind, it would blow off.

You can also buy a gallon of rinseless wash dilute it to make a waterless wash to cut some costs.
