Help with paint

peecee

Question

I have a 1973 VW Beetle that was repainted about 20 years ago from bare metal.  After washing it recently, I noticed there are "waves" of paint that alternate between a nice red and a sort of hazy red.  To my untrained eye, it looks like the "swipes" of the painter, but could just as easily be remnants of a detailer I used about 3 years ago.  The car has been under a car cover since then, and I'd like to know if it's possible to fix this, or if I need to start saving for a new paint job.

Hopefully this picture shows the problem correctly.

Sometimes when cars are covered for an extended time the paint can look like that especially if there's moisture present, try leaving it uncovered for a week or two
