Porter-Cable pad size?

I've got a PC 8424XP. Plan on getting the one-step polish with pads. I see it's sold as a kit with 6.5" pads, or I can purchase the one-step with the same set of 5.5" pads for about the same price. Which is the preferred size for use with a 5" backing plate? I'm thinking the 6.5" pads might be TOO large...?

For your 5'' backing plate you would want to use these 5.5" pads.

Make sure you have a 5" backing plate because most PC's come with a ~5.8" plate for 6" pads but it's too big for 5.5" pads and you wouldn't want to use 6.5" pads with the PC, it would correct a lot slower.  So if you have a 5" plate already than you're good to go, get 5.5" pads.  But if not, order up the Adam's PC 5" backing plate and it will work great.
