layering wax on top of wax, removes wax?

enoch7fa

Question

was watching utube detail talk show talking about layering.  their claim is putting a wax on top of a wax removes the first layer because wax is a solvent. is this true?  also said you can up wax on top of a sealant but if you put sealant on top of a wax will remove the wax. is this true?  is wax a solvent?

Putting wax on top of another coating of wax doesn’t remove the bottom layer of wax. If it was a solvent, like they claim, it would remove the bottom layer of paint sealant if you put that on top. However, if you put too many layers on top of each other, they start to shift and you start getting a point of diminishing returns.

As as far as the paint sealant on top of wax, wax doesn’t dissolve the sealant. But the sealant is designed in nature to adhere to paint or clear coat. If you put it on top of wax, it has nothing to adhere to and will not stay.
