  1. Well today I think I finaly clogged the orange pad with calcium because I went from glassy to a fine haze looking finish, so I have washed the pad will start again tomorrow. I still have some pitting or etching if you will, but I feel it will come out with just a bit more aggressive compound, I should not need to go to wet sanding. That will have to wait a few weeks. So what do guys like for the next step up in compounds? Is there a more aggressive Adams product or do we go to anothers product if we are allowed to mention them.(should have read the forum rules a bit better)
  2. Just using the orange for now. the kit came with orange, white and black and then there is the white that comes with the pc thats smaller.
  3. The pointy little mountain on the left in the background is called Pilot mountain, this is the foothills of nwestern N.C. as seen from the Blue Ridge Parkway at the Pipers Gap overlook. Here's a couple more from just down the road at Fox Hunters Paradise.
  4. Started doing that and it helps with being able to work the area longer without having to wipe it all off and reapply the chemicals. Nope, 6'x4' fiberglass bed cover broke down into 8 seperate areas. I am inside the garage. Well even after using detailing spray to lengthen the working time I have been over 1 2x2 area about 8 times using the refined process above and still have some etching, IT IS getting better each time but at this rate i will need 2 more bottles of each DS,SHR,FMP to finish the hood and roof and bed cover. So I am willing to keep going this route but, should I try to step to some product (Adams or otherwise) thats a bit more aggresive to gain a little ground before going on? I should say that parts of these areas that I have done that have no etching is like glass now, I could shave in it but then there would be shavings all over my truck and thats not happening!
  5. Ok, I have washed and clay barred and have started with the swirl and haze remover, obviously there is improvement but what I am noticing is that there is some (best guess) etching from the hard water so should I just keep on going till they are gone or should I go to a different compound? As well I am wondering about my technique, Ive seen the videos and read about running the pc till the SHR is starting to break down. I am going along fine and all of a sudden it gets really dry and starts balling up on me and chunks off, so am I working it too long and could be damaging the pad or should I just keep going when that happens? I really dont remember seeing in the videos any mess at all when they stop to wipe it down and check progress.
  6. So I am wondering if one pad will make it or should I stop and clean the pad somewhere in between finishing the whole truck considering how bad it is with hard water spots. Here is a few pics, what do you think, what would you do?
  7. Howdy guys and gals, my name is Tony and finally got my pc and Adams supplies. Been soaking up all the good info for along time but now its my turn to get started returning my pride and joys finish back to the best we can expect from a factory finish anyway. Seeya around the forum and thanks for the help I am sure I will get incase I forget to do it at the right time. Tony 2002 SVT Lightning
