  1. Hello all, Is the Carpet and Upholstery cleaner safe for cleaning ultra suede upholstery? I have a client who has a sailboat with ultra suede cushions. They have some stains on them so was going to try to spot treat with the CUP or if that doesn't work, pre treat then hot water extract. Don't want to use the CUP on the cushions if this is the improper product for cleaning suede. Thanks.
  2. Soap and hot water? Mook, you should take a bath in some 10:1 APC . Maybe throw in some bubbles for ambiance. Now that's a bath made in America. Thanks for the advice on the paint decon everyone! Will keep it in mind and use it next time I have a car that needs it. Chris, I hope he doesn't offer it too often. I think trees have something against his car because it had tree sap in about 50 different places. It was really enjoyable tending to that problem . Can you tell I'm loving these smiley things haha. Enjoy your weekends everyone, Happy Detailing!
  3. Does the smell always linger for awhile after? I smelled it on the driveway for a few hours. Ah, paint decon, how do you use it in that regard? As in the process. spray it on, spread it? leave it on the paint for a certain amount of time? When I brought the car back to the kid he was in total shock, he forgot that his wheel wasn't normally brown. to DWC!
  4. Had borrowed a friends truck for a few days to do some moving of furniture and the like. As payment I told him I'd clean his car up. The wheels were disgusting! I mean, I don't know if this kid washed his car in the past 10 years kind of dirty. I'm just going to let the before and after pictures speak for themselves. I am insanely impressed with the way this stuff works. Definitely doesn't smell like the other products but it is absolutely bearable for what this stuff will do for your wheels.
  5. I figured that. I assume if you put a machine to that you'd just rip up the existing paint. Thanks Baron. Anyway, what can I suggest this guy do if he wants it fully corrected? Does he need a full on repaint? Can I still offer everything but the machine polish? As in, Wash, clay, hand polish, seal, glaze, wax ?? Thanks for the response!
  6. Alright so I went to go take a look at the car to check out the paint, point out any nicks scratches etc. The guy bought it from someone who built it himself and then apparently painted it himself. I found some flaws and such and then came across some cracking in the paint on the trunk, hood, and a few other places. I'm attaching pictures for everyone and if you could help me determine a) what it means can they be corrected without repainting c) if I shouldn't be polishing them with a machine, can I hand polish everything instead? again, still new to single stage paints and especially cautious as I do not have a paint meter to at least figure out how thick the coat is. It looks and feels thicker on the trunk than on the hood. Anyways, see pictures attached and let me know! Thanks for all the help!! 7. Thanks for the advice. We haven't really done any detailing on older paint as we've only started up a month or so ago. I can research all about the old school paint, borrow a paint meter from my buddy and all that good stuff, but I also wanted to get knowledge from the guys on here because everyone knows their stuff. If we don't take on and learn how to do these types of cars, how can we get experience? We will be sure to take our time, do test panels and make sure everything is A-OK in the end. If we do take on the car(if no wet sanding needed and all that sorta stuff we can't do yet) I will be sure to post pictures. Enjoy your weekends.
  8. Thanks guys, I personally chose not to clay bar the car as the paint has been taken care of over the past year and was still really smooth(I did clay 2 scratches on the tailgate and passenger door then machine polished them for him as a courtesy). Had it been in rougher shape I would have suggested a full clay. Mind you, all he wanted was a wash and wax but since I wanted to try out the revive I asked if he'd be OK with it and he loved it. etalian, that is a good looking car, the Raptor is one of my favorite looking trucks. Enjoy your weekends!
  9. Hey all, Was asked to check out a future clients 1969' camaro with black "laquer" paint job. Still new to paint so not quite sure what I should be doing for this type of paint, what's good what's bad, can i machine polish? Any tips or tricks/info on this type of paint would be greatly appreciated. I can get pictures tomorrow. Thanks!
  10. Used revive for the first time yesterday on a customers 2012 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. Steam Wash with the Optima -> no clay, paint was in solid shape, some minor swirling -> Revive Hand Polish (with buttery applicator as my blue hex was MIA) -> 2 Layers of Americana then finished with Detail Spray. Was really surprised just how well revive cleaned the paint and removed the minor swirls(this was the biggest thing I was looking for this product to do) Adams should have coined the term, "Satisfaction Guaranteed", because there isn't a truer statement. Took the pics with the Iphone 4 so apologies for the quality of pics and angles, not the best photographer. Team Adam should team up with Crayola and make scented markers!
  11. Well Adams strikes again. First tried hitting the coffee stains with the triangle tool on my steamer covered with microfiber. Pssssh, it basically did nothing but make the headliner wet. I abandoned machines and went straight to Adams Carpet and Upholstery cleaner. Really like the fact their is no sudsing action. I sprayed the cleaner directly onto a 1" by 1" section of a clean microfiber, then I pressed onto the stains, agitated, then blotted/twisted dry like gencoupe recommended. Thanks!!
  12. Hi All, I am starting up an auto and marine detailing business and we clean via the use of steam so there really is no water run off. A friend brought up the point that brake dust might contain asbestos/metal fragments that may need reclamation if they make contact with pavement and then run off into the water without being treated. I thought asbestos was no longer used in the process and a search shows that the EPA tried to ban it's use but did not succeed. Does anyone have any information on this? Does Green Wheel Cleaner act as a chelating agent and attract the fragments so as not to allow the dust fragments to be inhaled? Second, if I am to clean an engine with APC and steam will I need to reclaim anything that falls to the pavement or grass? Will there even be any water drips? Do I even offer this as an option in the detailing process if there is no means to reclaim anything? Any information you all may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Hope all your labor day weekends were free of labor! -James
  13. Thank you all for the great responses! I thought I lost this thread so, SORRY for the lack of response to all the helpful hints. Really appreciate everyone weighing in on the subject and THIS is just another reason why I will continue to buy from Adams, the quality of the forums is fantastic. Glad I'm starting my business with these products in my bag. -James
  14. Hey all, I'm starting to rack up lots of Microfibers and applicators as business picks up. Any insight into the best place/unit to store all these different items safely? Thanks! -James
