  1. I will try making a second pass with a clean utility towel - the trim is spotless and I don't know if I could go any less on the sponge and achieve full coverage. Its odd in that I haven't had this issue in the past.
  2. Is there anything that can be done to prevent SVRT from "bleeding" or running from trim? I noticed it a few months back on the wifes Explorer, but its much more pronounced on my truck. Ive tried cutting back the dose, applying thinner coats, etc. but it never fails - shortly after it rains, the SVRT runs down off the trim. Thanks in advance! -Coop

  5. I do mine annually, usually at the beginning of snow season for the DD and the beginning of summer for the seasonal rides. Not sure if thats overkill or not, but it sure is nice to have good blades when you need them.
  6. Thanks guys, a cup may be an exaggeration - it only came out for as long as it took me to pull my hand off the trigger, which at the time seemed like a ton. Either way it was more than Id like! Unfortunately I dont have the time or the day light to do a full rewash, but Ill get up early and reapply some BG and BW before the cruise.
  7. Long story short, I've spent the past 3 days doing a full detail on my Evo. I strip washed it, clayed the whole car, hand polished, sealed, b.g., b.w. blah blah blah. It looks sexy as heck Anyway, were going on a cruise tomorrow morning so I went out just now and filled her up. I was at the pump, but apparently the auto stop doesn't work on that one. I spilled about a cup of gas down the side of her. It instantly took the SVRT off the wheel and I about lost my cool standing at the pump. I grabbed a handful of the *cring* gas station paper towels and cleaned/dried it as best I could and hurried home. I went over the area thoroughly with quick detail spray and a microfiber. It feels fine to the touch and I cant visually see anything wrong with the area - though its dark and the lighting in my garage isn't as ideal as daylight. I guess my question is - can I do anything else? Is that section of the car going to look like crap in the am or was the quick response/clean up and Adams amazing products enough to protect it?   8. Gotcha! IMHO, this cart would be ideal if they lowered the middle shelf to fit gallons on bottom and empty wash buckets in the middle, or vise versa. I'd also love another "bottle rack" like it comes with. I understand Adams doesn't make the carts, but perhaps if they do a part enough volume it would be possible! Last but not least, they should update the photo of the cart so the impression of wash buckets fitting is not given!
  9. Earlier this month I had ordered a cart from Jegs with the intention of using it as a detailing cart. Long story short it wasn't ideal at all. The shelves were too shallow and my bottles fell off every time I moved it. I also wanted to store my was buckets on the bottom for easy transport to and from the area I wash vehicles in and my garage, as well as to keep clutter to a minimum while in storage in the garage. The buckets didn't fit on the shelves either. Long story short, I just ordered the pro detailing cart on Monday and it showed up today. All in all the cart is 100x better suited to detailing duties and I do plan on keeping it. That said, my wash buckets still don't fit on the bottom like pictured on the site. Have the wash buckets changed? Have the carts changed?
  10. Thanks for the tips guys! I havent done the Explorer just yet, but I have spent the past couple days getting my Evo ready for a cruise/show this weekend. Its hood is covered in 3m clear material, and I clayed/hand polished the whole thing. There were some water spots on the 3m bra, and I got a little aggressive with the clay trying to get them out. Now if you look at the bra where the water spots were - it looks "scratched". I've tried to snap a photo of it, but its proving to be nearly impossible to catch on camera. It looks great from a distance and from almost every angle, but it really bugs me when I get close and look. Any suggestions to help fix this? Hopefully this will prove a learning experience as Id rather have done it on my car than hers. -Coop
  11. Any idea when the great white microfibers will be back in stock? I was just getting ready to place another small order, and I need a couple of these. Also - whats the reason for removing OOS items completely from the site? Not that I dont find something else I "must have" every time I visit the site, but it would be nice to order OOS items and just receive them when in stock - instead of needing to check back every couple of days.
  12. Cheap, T6 fixtures will do the trick nicely. IMHO, in a space like a garage they throw a much more usable light and fill the space better than LED's. Make sure to get something with a diffuser over it (the chinsy plastic covers). It will help disperse light and will help prevent smacking the bulb with a ladder/rake/shovel or whatever else you may be moving around the garage.
  13. The paint is very clean - its a 14 and it showed up 2 months ago. Im just curious if its worth it while I was going through the motions, or if it would be something I look at after and not notice a thing.

  16. Hey guys, shortly after we picked up our 14' Explorer Sport, I had the front end wrapped in Premium Shield protective coating. I spent quite a bit of time researching products, and this seemed like the best option to protect the front of our new car. I also had them wrap the rear bumper as our German Shepherd often rides with us, so its unacceptable from damage when he's jumping in/out. Premium Shield is also a local (New England) company - which helped seal the deal. After the install they suggested (and provided me with) a 3m plastic polish which they suggested I use to protect and clean the film. I'm sure that as well know as Adams is, and as many vehicles as Premium Shield is used to protect (I was told ~700 a month from the Massachusetts location, and another ~1000 a month out of their Miami location - including wraps shipped to installers across the globe) that there are folks out there who have used Adams products in conjunction with Premium Shield. Is there anyone on here who has experience with this? What products do you use, and how do you use them? Im planning on doing a full pre-winter detail on our vehicles and my plan for the Sport was this: Strip wash Clay bar Hand polish Quick sealant Brilliant glaze Buttery wax Will this be OK over the Premium Shield? Are there other steps I should take, or steps I should skip over for the protected areas? Also, is the hand polish necessary on a brand new vehicle, or can I go right to quick sealant after the clay bar? Thanks in advance, Coop

  19. The SS looks awesome man, I cant wait to clean mine up! I have a 14' Sport that is Lund tuned, it is DEFINATLY faster than my SS was stock. I haven't had it on the rollers since the tune, but bone stock on 87 octane it made 300awhp/300awtq. Once you get into mild bolt ons with the SS though, its a whole different ball game. None the less, I think the Ecoboost platform is going to become very competitive over the next few years.

  21. Just thought Id drop in and introduce myself, Im Coop from NH. When I was younger, I owned a boat detailing business with my best friend, which helped pay for our summer fun, some college money and a few toys. Quite honestly though, along the way I grew to loathe the art of detailing. Ive always kept my toys "clean", but for the last 5 or so years major detailing and just about anything aside a quick wash/vacuum was taken care of by someone else; I simply couldn't be bothered; Id much rather build/wrench/race/enjoy them than spend the time to keep them looking as good as most of the rides here. Back in January I picked up a TBSS, and joined the TBSSOwners forums. I put about 3k miles on the truck after buying her and before she went under the knife...its been a long project but were just about wrapped up. She's gone from a bone stock AWD SS to sporting a blown 416 LS3, 4L80e trans and just about everything else you can imagine. Along the way, I did a lot of reading, a lot of documentation, and met a lot of great people. A few of those people have mentioned on more than one occasion the Adams line, and Ive received some attention from Adams on Instagram occasionally as I post pics of the build. I also recognize Mook and a couple of the other guys from the TBSS Forums. This piqued my interest in Adams products, and had me browsing/talking about them around the house. Anyway, last month for my birthday I was plesantly surprised to receive a big box of Adams goodies from the old lady - who obviously pays pretty good attention to my interests! The SS is still in the shop, and detailing is the last of my worries with it right now, so I havent touched that yet. But, being like a kid on Christmas, I couldn't leave the goodies to sit until I finished up the SS, so I went to work her new car; a 2014 Explorer Sport. I have to admit, all I did was a two bucket wash and dry. Thats all it took, Im completly addicted to Adams products. I was AMAZED at the ease of use, the smell, the thick foam, and obviously the results. Needless to say Im stoked to get the SS out of the shop and take her for a rip, but Im also excited now to do a full detail. Ive got another ~$500 worth of Adams goodies sitting in my shopping cart right now, and am planning a full strip wash, clay bar, seal, and wax on her Ex. Sport before winter, as well as the same on the SS before it goes into storage for the winter months and my DD. Ive attached a couple pics of the SS and the Sport, unfortunatly Im away at work and dont have any great shots here, but I promise some soon! -Coop
