  1. I'm using 50/50 with distilled water on 'maintained' cars. My test subject was some cast aluminmum wheels on a friends truck, they were black with brake dust, grease, etc. At full strength it cut through the gunk and came clean with a little scrubbing. After seeing the results he asked me to order him some; got him the Daily Special from earlier this week.
  2. I saw my first love bug of the season yesterday (well to be accurate there were 2 'attached'). Not having been an Adam's user during the past 'seasons' they've always been a problem, but now I'll just keep some Detail Spray and a clean MF towel in the vehicles for the next month or so. A quick spray and wipe should get them off the grill and windshield. For those of you who don’t' live in the Southeast, Wikipedia says "The lovebug, Plecia nearctica, is a member of the family of march flies. It is also known as the honeymoon fly, telephonebug, kissybug or double-headedbug". What they really are is flying acid containers! If not taken care of quickly (guilty) they will eat through whatever protection is on the paint, and then start on the paint! Oh well, a price must be paid for being able to wear shorts and flip-flops at Christmas!
  3. Thanks Ken and Jason. I beleive I'll add a couple of MF pads when I place the Revive order so I can do the mural by hand.
  4. I think this is the stuff to get 'regular owners' hooked on Adam's. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p> Most of the folks on here that have cars they show, DD's and garage queens, mention that the first Adam's products they used was the Detail Spray, then their addiction grew from there (Detail Spray as a 'gateway drug', hmmm). I think the GWC may do the same thing with folks that are just regular owners looking for a way to keep their DD's looking nice. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I received my GWC order last Friday and a friend stopped by to deliver my Arizona Iced Tea order (he is a driver for them and hooks me up). While he was in the house talking with my wife, I thought his very dirty (brake dust, grease, etc.) cast aluminum wheels would be the perfect test for GWC. He couldn't believe how good the wheels looked, and admitted he had tried many OTC products to clean them. He said his son joked that maybe they should just let them go and tell everyone that they painted them black! He has now hit me up twice since then to get him a bottle. I'll be placing his order for the Daily Special when I get to work in the a.m., and get another person on the way to being “addicted to Adam's”!<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> BTW, I only have ‘before’ pictures. When he comes to get his order I’ll get ‘after’ pics and post them.
  5. I will be working on my niece’s truck in a few weeks figured I'd ask a question here. She has a Buick Rendezvous with lift gate for her wheelchair. It's white, with a painted mural on the hood and some painted graphics on the sides, and I don't believe they are clear coated. When I looked at the truck over the weekend the graphics looks a little 'dull' and I was thinking of getting some Revive to clean the entire truck before applying MSW. Does anyone have experience with this type graphics and/or would the Revive work? If it makes any difference I will be working with a PC. Thanks in advance, Mike.
  6. OK, 'first rater' on 4 products, what do I win?
  7. Rich you are absolutely right, I loved the wash pad! And the neon pink wash soap is great too! The wash pad is sooooo much better than the similar looking one I was using. Once again 'Adam's Rules!'.
  8. And now a question: if I'm working on removing a scratch, say 6 inches long, how much product (SHR only) should I put on the pad? In the video's you mentioned that you were using more product than usual and were doing an entire panel. I know it's a learning process, but wanted to get a reference point before I start next time. Thanks, Mike.
  9. I believe the PC has an 18 gauge cord, but I didn't have my glasses on when I read the cord and can't verify that online. You may want to add the cord size to the write-up since it is important to use a smaller number/higher gauge extension cord (as you mention).
  10. My wash pad, soap, and GWC Daily Special is arriving today, can't wait to get home and wash the truck with them. My wife has been commenting on how often I've been washing her car lately - I was trying to use up a gallon of Meg's Gold Class so I could justify ordering the Adam's Car Wash!

    My Adam's-itis

Ok, I know I'm not the only one here with Adam's-itis (wishing Jason and Ashley would get Daily Special up already, do they not know what time it is!, logging in several times a day to see which Forum Friends have been checking in, etc.), but my real concern is my Detailer's Disease. I can't walk by a car in the parking lot without giving it a quick once-over to see what Adam's product could help it; couple of scratches - PC and SHR, dull finish - Revive polish, cloudy headlights - SHR & FMP with the PC (until the new pads are out). I even check out cars at traffic lights: 'hey those wheels would look much better if they would let me clean them with GWC", and breaking every car down into 2 ft. x 2ft. panels ("man, that door would be 3 sections!"). I was talking with an attractive female friend outside the gym the other day and I'm checkout out her car to see what corrections could be done! Please tell me these symptoms subside over time (at least the car over the cute girl one). Hello, my name is Mike and I'm an Adam's-oholic.
  12. Our Lab hated the UPS truck, I guess it is the frequency of the motor. He didn't understand that the UPS driver was bringing presents for Mom and Dad!
  13. I know you guys have bad weather up there but that finish was in bad shape! He must have driving that thing through the woods. Cool looking car and the outcome is amazing!
  14. I've heard of Peebles but haven't been there yet. Jimbo's is better than the places we have in Orlando. We may have to take 'Q' discussion this over to chowhound.com or someplace like that! Again though, glad to hear your wife is ok.
  15. Sorry to hear about the car Ty, but good news on your wife. Those are cool cars(trucks?). The worst part was since it was Sunday you couldn't continue west on 92 and drown your sorrows in pickles, hushpuppies, and barbeque at Jimbo's!
  16. Just watched the videos and wanted to say Thanks!. Informative and entertaining (as per your usual). Like Dylan, I'll be referring folks to this post that are new to the PC or thinking about getting one so they can what can be attained.
  17. I have been able to find the green 3M tape at most auto parts stores in the paint area. And I have also found it sticks better than the blue, and is not a problem to get off. It keeps polish from dumping down the seams, but I remove it from the seams before waxing.
  18. Thanks guys, it was good working with my son. The tape is the thin tape (1/2" I guess) in C6Bill's link, picked it up at Autozone, but have seen in most auto parts stores in the paint section. This was the first time I have used it, but it saved the black trim and kept polish from dumping down the seams. We took it off the seams for waxing, but left it on the trim, and it did save time. I tried the blue tape once before on the windshield trim on my truck, but the green sticks to the trim better, and comes up just as easy. Thanks to Richie C. for the tips on using tape. Also, the green tape looks neat on the car and it makes it look like really you know what you are doing!
  19. My son and I spent the day yesterday detailing his Grandmothers Grand Marquis. Man, that car has a lot of paint! It was a test run for him and me - him to get a chance to see if he would like to do this as a summer job (and as a 'Thank You' to his Grandmother for selling him her old Crown Vic for $1), and me to see what 'mobile' detailing would be like. I have never detailed another person's car without getting anything out of it (GF's and my wife) so this was a 'Thank You' from me as well. Total time spent was about 7.5 hours, but not all working, and my son was learning the 'correct' wash and PC procedures. We started with the wheel wells, tires, & wheels using APC and a variety of brushes, then on to the wash with a heavy concentration to help strip the wax, and drying with Detail Spray and waffle towels. That went fairly quickly, but we kept having to stop and clear the car - we were working under an 150 year old oak tree that dropped things on the car all day! We taped off the car and did a little 'spot' correction with the SHR with the white pad, removing a few scratches, and then moved on the FMP (when the pictures where taken). We each took turns with the PC and detailing the leather interior (with the 'Daily Special' on Leather Cleaner and Leather Conditioner from a few weeks ago). After applying Undercarriage spray to the wheel wells and SMW with the black pads, we wiped the door jambs with Detail Spray and hit the tires and black trim with VRT (love the new blue sponges for the tires!), then removed the wax with the Blue towels. Finally done! My mother-in-law was amazed at the way the car looked. She didn't' really know what 'detailing' meant, I guess she thought we would just wash the car and maybe put some Turtle Wax on it. She just kept walking around the car commenting on how shiny it was, as we cleaned the tools and put the things back in the crates to take home (and wiped off more stuff from the tree). Not sure if my son made up his mind about doing this for money (but the $20 tip he got did bring a smile), and I know that for me it was gratifying seeing her reaction and to see how good the car could look after some work. BTW, she called today to say the she talked to everyone at church today and hopes that my son does decide to do this because several of her friends want their cars done!
  20. When you have finished cleaning the pad, put it back on the PC, set it to 5 or 6, stick the PC down in your wash bucket, and turn it on. It only takes a few seconds to sling the water out. Now set it out to finish drying (I use the Grit Guard as drying rack), or begin using it again.
  21. I would agree with Sundog & jjwvette and disagree with Rich & Devin when using the 2 bucket method and only 1 Grit Guard. I clean the wash mitt on the Grit Guard in the rinse bucket (thus causing my 'sud gloves'), so the dirt stays at the bottom of the rinse bucket, and the wash bucket stays clean, but still only reload the mitt in top 2/3 of the wash water. I'll probably get another Grit Guard when Richie C. has some. And I'm using mine right now to dry some detailing sponges and wash mitts!
  22. My DD is a black Frontier. I wanted the Solar Yellow, but my wife and son both said they would never ride in it. After some time spent considering that, I went with my 2nd choice, Super Black. Nothing looks better when it is clean (as others have said, that is only about 5 minutes), but it does take lots of care. My wife drives a silver Honda, always looks good, and my son has a light blue Crown Vic G-ride (a gift from his Grandmother) that never looks dirty. That being said, if I got another car it would definitely be black.
  23. Before someone beats me to it... :worth: Love to see some pictures of your hard work!
  24. Ok, so I'm using the two bucket method with a wash bucket, rinse bucket with Grit Guard, and the regular size wash pad. My question is how much water do you put in the rinse bucket? I've been filling the 4.25 gal bucket about 1/2 full, but end up the 'sud gloves' after wiping the wash pad on the Grit Guard. Is that just the way it works or am I using too much/not enough water? BTW, spent the day today washing and doing a full interior detail on the wife's Accord; it makes her happy and then she doesn't mind me feeding my Adam's addiction.
  25. 1BAD'66, my question is who stole a whole rack of rods & reels?
