  1. it is because i have no idea how to upload photos easily so here we go again: before: after:
  2. Thanks to everyone for all of the posts and thanks to Adam for the phone call and suggestions. Below is what was my direction: 1) Start with FMP and see what the results are. No real exciting results. 2) Move to SHR. This did the trick. Please be kind (if i get these photos uploaded), the Detroit Red Wings were on so i did this in-between periods and need to now move to the whole wheel i just did a test spot. Thanks everyone and thanks for the forum! BEFORE: AFTER:
  3. adam thanks for the response. i don't believe the wheels were cold, but i know that they were not hot, so i am sure that does not help in answering the question. the car was outside on a warm (70's) day for about 2 hours prior to cleaning the wheels. Also, i left it on long enough to do all of the wheels prior to rinsing, not sure why i did that but just did. i will have to buy some polish and try out the fix........
  4. So i used the all purpose cleaner on my 89 vette rims. i think i left the cleaner on too long and it looks like i burned through some of the clearcoating or something on the rims. i have "white clouding" drip like marks on the rims. Any ideas, suggestions to clean this back to normal? hopefully something can be done.....
  5. hello everyone, obviously i am new to the detailing so i am trying to figure all of this out. i hope this does not turn out too long because i have some questions: I purchased the detailing kit which includes SHR, PC, FMP and Machine superwax. I believe on my first try i eliminated about 85% of the swirl marks (there were just so many and my vehicle was in the hot sun) that i could not complete in the time i had alotted. So i moved to the FMP. That appeared to work very well. Then moved onto the Superwax. The vette looks great! but i need to practice and learn more about the products so if you all could help. My main objective for all of my hard work is a nice deep extremely shiny car. So to get that am i on the right track? Should i be investigating the Carnuba wax? Everyone talks about the revive polish but that did not come in my kit. Should i be looking into that more? Also, what is up with the Brilliant spray glaze? Even the detail spray can i use that to get the "wet" look? Any advice would be great. I think i have found my product line just need to learn my favorite combinations......
  6. thanks everyone for your responses. i did both outside for the top surfaces and outside for the sides of the vette and that seemed to help but both the SHR and FMP were both difficult to use on warm to hot surfaces, and i tried a couple sprays of the detail spray on the pads too.
  7. hey everyone, i am a first timer and am in the process of using the SHR and i am noticing a lot of flakes. after watching multiple videos i have not noticed this happening. One note is that i am outside in the sun. so i am wondering if this is the issue. it appears to be working but it is taking a lot of passes. the car has a lot of swirls.
  8. 1st day down - thanks for everyone's help. I do have some questions for tomorrow activities: I am going to SHR, FMP and then Machine super wax. Gotta watch some videos. But my question is in between each of these items do i need to just use a micro-fiber towel to wipe off the excess? i am pretty stoked so i hope the first day goes well. the car already looks better after the wash and clay. i had some marks on the convertible top that have been there for a while. I have a removable hard top that during the fall/winters leaves a huge seal mark, but the clay really did a great job taking that off......
  9. Alright. The time has come. My first time with the tools and PC to fully detail the vette. Below is a quick summary of my plan and any suggestions will be greatly appreciated: Friday night: Wash and clay the vette. Question: can i just leave the detail spray on the car overnight? do i have to wash prior to saturday's events? Saturday (all day): SH removal, FMP and finally machine superwax How does the plan sound?
  10. I am new and waiting for my new PC kit to arrive so I can detail my 89 black corvette. I am still getting negative feedback from people that this is a huge mistake. With all of the videos and help, why is this still such a huge concern with people. Even on this forum some say they only hand polish black vehicles. Am i making a big mistake? I am super excited to do this but just curious.....
  11. I am new to this and have some questions about the paint prior to me starting the detailing process: I was told that my vette has been painted and is not original. Is this cause of concern prior to me breaking out the PC on the car??
  12. Just purchased my equipment! excited to pull the vette out of hibernation and clean it all up. I hope i don't end up screwing up the way it looks right now.
  13. :)once i figure out how to post a photo i will.....
  14. Hey guys/gals, I have an 89 vette and am going to make the initial purchase to start the "detailing process" (Thanks AJ - Junkman2008 at corvette forum). I have a question regarding sunlight. I do not have any shade in my yard and have a very small garage that just fits my vette. Can I use the polishing kit from adams in the sunlight?
  15. Excited to learn how to really detail my vette.....
