Offbeat question concerning which product to use
kitt1987 replied to kitt1987's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Oh I will and plan on it. The bike is still in my parents' basement as I don't have a means to transport it to my house just yet. My Acura isn't the best at transporting large items so I'll either be grabbing a bike rack or borrowing a truck to bring it home and then I'll put the pictures up. -
Offbeat question concerning which product to use
kitt1987 replied to kitt1987's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Thank you! I was planning on washing completely with a follow up with the Revive Polish. Wasn't sure if the metal polish would help or not and also was curious on the Paint Sealant. Could I use the same products on the chrome once I figure out how to remove the surface rust? -
Offbeat question concerning which product to use
kitt1987 replied to kitt1987's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I think I remember reading that somewhere on this site...hopefully he comes across this and gives me a decent tip! -
Ok guys (and girls), a little different question today: I just came into possession of a vintage Schwinn bicycle left to my by my parents, it is approximately from the late 50's. I plan on changing the tubes/tires and chain. The body is in good condition and the chrome areas have surface rust. What Adams product could anyone advise for using on the painted metal all around the body. Since this is not clear coated I'm not sure exactly what to use. Should I consider the metal polish for the body? I want to enhance the finish and really bring the shine and gloss back to this old bike. I haven't figured out exactly how to remove the rust from the chrome areas yet if anyone has suggestions on that. Ultimately once I clean this bike it is going to be literally like new and like I said since it was left to me by my parents it's got the sentimental value going for it. Any help as always is apreciated!

Pre-treatment question for detailing
kitt1987 replied to kitt1987's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Thank you all, this helps. I'll stick with the all purpose cleaner then. I treat my rubber and vinyl pretty frequently (VRT is one of my favorite items in the Adam's arsenal) but still I'll work with what's best and forgo the Dawn treatment then. -
Pre-treatment question for detailing
kitt1987 posted a question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Hey all, I cannot find the information but in the next 4-6 weeks I will be detailing my car which involves stripping off last year's product (all Adam's of course), claying, sealing, then gloss. My question is, I know I can mix the all purpose cleaner in with a bucket of suds to strip off all wax, etc....is it true I can also mix in Dawn dish detergent with the car wash soap to strip? The Mrs. bought plenty of Dawn a couple of weeks ago (more than I think we'll need) and I'm thinking of using that if it truly works. Thanks in advance! -
Super VRT running from trim
kitt1987 replied to CooperS7777's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I'm sorry to hear others have had issues with VRT, after my first few months of using Adam's products, it's turned out to definitely be one of my favorite products (that's saying something because I really enjoy all of their products other than a couple things I haven't tried and don't truly need). With all the rain we've had in Ohio this summer I was personally surprised by the durability of it and how I've only had to touch it up 3 times since my initial application in May. I've had no run off, spotiness, or anything. I've even dressed my engine bay with it and still looks new. As others have said, maybe it was an "off" batch or maybe it has to do with the plastic/vinyl on certain vehicles too. Really stupid suggestion, do you think it might have something to do with the quality of rainfall you've experienced in your area? I just wonder if it happens mainly during heavy rain..... -
10" wash pads back? What happened to the 9" pads?
kitt1987 replied to ramflava's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
I also say that you made a good choice by sticking with the 10x10, that's my preference anyhow but by keeping the cost/price low I would say it is a win-win for most. -
Well I'll be damned, I've been out of touch the last couple of months and just came across this. I live 10 minutes from Columbus. Hopefully you guys will have another event in the future and I hope this past event went well. I know I turn as many people onto your products around here as I can as it is and would love to help out officially in the right enviornment.

10" Wash Pad longevity and effectiveness
kitt1987 replied to kitt1987's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Thanks everyone, no I haven't brushed them but I do have 2 or 3 others in reserve. As Dylan and others have mentioned about the wedge I might go that route for my top half. I'll be keeping my eyes open for some good deals as they're released. -
10" Wash Pad longevity and effectiveness
kitt1987 posted a question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Just wondering if it might be time to retire my wash pad. Have been using it once a week since the beginning of April and it was great at slathering the suds on my car. The last two times it's barely retaining any of the suds and appears to just spread slightly soapy water on my vehicle. I've done my best to maintain the pad properly, cleaning and air drying it after each use (cleaning = thoroughly rinsing with the hose only and squeezing out excess water) but am at the point in wondering if it's time to "hang it up" for this one. Any thoughts on this? -
Pollen+Spitting Rain = FILTHY!
kitt1987 replied to PT3's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I'm feeling ya! I spent a good deal of time between mine and the wife's car this past weekend to the point they were immaculate! Drive to work Monday only to have construction begin a quarter mile up the road followed up by the surprise spit shower. Oh well. lol -
Streaks on Interior of using Interior Detailer
kitt1987 replied to USCGRetiredJosh's question in Interior Cleaning & Care
On those door panels you can even try VRT(after cleaning) and it offers some protection and won't run when you open the door in the rain. -
The acidity of your water doesn't sound too bad to be honest, I know anything with a pH <7 is acidic but that's not too terrible. I do believe a lot of Adam's cleaning products neutralize the water, including the shampoo wash so you should be good. That's why it also helps to spray a shot of detail or the new H20 spray on each panel after you rinse because those neutrailize the water as well alleviating most if not all water spotting.
