  1. I'll try to get some ideas by bumping this instead of starting a new thread...but how do/would you clean around an emblem where crap has built up? My WS6 emblem on the rear bumper sticks out and has a nice dirty ring around it. Before I start scraping at it with something, what product(s) should I spray to help the process? I have APC, Waterless, and Detail Spray. Removing the emblem is not an option .
  2. I sure am. The worst of it looks great. I scraped the nose on some brick entering my garage (don't ask!) and it left lots of grey scuffs. Looking good now, but will still have it painted at some point. Pics when it's done!
  3. Ok that might help explain it. I did not go back with orange before moving to finishing polish. I thought I read it wasn't necessary...but I don't think my paint is very forgiving. I will try the orange on several areas before moving on tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback!
  4. Well, I thought I was almost done polishing my 2002 white Trans Am. It's garaged, so I've been working a few hours each over the last several weekends. I thought I had good results on my first test section (the front bumper) using the orange pad and polish with the Porter Cable. I ended up switching to blue pad and polish to get a few deeps scratches out and it really made them look better, if not completely removed. Somewhere along the way I moved to the microfiber pad with blue compound and I was seeing good results. I'm not going for perfection here and the car looks great. However, tonight I had the light in a different position to start on the finishing polish and now I see tons of light scratches that I was unable to see before. They're not horrible and very hard to find, but it's really disappointing considering how much work I've done. I used several flashlights to try and locate these areas before moving on. I also have LED lights overhead and a shop light I've moved all around. No idea how I'm just finding all this. Sorry I think I'm just ranting now. How do I achieve more cut? And do you think this is happening because it's the first correction on paint from 2001? I used every combo of heavy and light pressure, with very slow to medium speed movement. The polisher was on 5 most of the time, at least twice per section. I then moved it down to 3 for finishing passes with the blue or orange compounds. There's been no issue with dust forming and the polish is flashing nicely before I wipe it off with double soft towels. I've also washed the pads after each use so the polish doesn't dry on them over night. For reference, I've tried to follow the junkman process, the videos here, or other methods some people outline in this forum. I'm not combining processes, just trying them at different times to see if results changed.
  5. I'm almost done polishing my garage queen - 2002 Trans Am, 36k miles, white - and want to layer a few products. I have H2O Guard & Gloss, Americana, and Buttery Wax at home. I was under the impression that H2OGG was only for short-term protection, but here it's listed as a sealant that can be used as a base when layering. Would it be silly to use H2OGG as the base before applying Americana? Or would I be better off simply using Americana (possibly topped with Buttery Wax)? My goal here is more shine than protection and for it to last the next couple months. Between drives, I assume Detail Spray will help without much affect on the wax?
  6. Hey everyone, I never post here but have been happily using Adam's for several years. Now I need some advice. My Trans Am is stored in the garage, which is great...except for when I need to do stuff that creates dust in the garage. So we recently remodeled our bathroom, which meant cutting tile in the garage since it was raining. I had the top half of the car covered, but obviously the mist created by the tile saw carried tile dust particles all over the garage - including the lower half of my car. I just bought the Porter Cable polisher and some Adam's products to try my first car polish, but I need to strip and clay the car before starting. I want to get as much of the tile particles off the car without touching it (don't I?). And I'd like to use products I have on hand: APC, Adam's Soap, Rinseless Adam's Waterless, blue Dawn, and a foam gun for the garden hose. My thought was to mix APC with some Adam's soap in the foam gun and heavily soak the car for several minutes. Then I could rinse with either straight water or water + rinseless Waterless. And finally start the final wash as a 2 bucket wash with the Dawn or Adam's like normal. Am I on the right track or not even close? I just want as much of that porcelain dust off the car as I can get before rubbing a towel on it. Thanks in advance.
  7. Man I went through this forum to look for an existing thread but didn't go to the feedback section. Thanks, guess I'll send an email like they've asked and see if they want it back for some reason. It worked fine and my truck was probably dirtier than it should have been.
  8. I bought a combo of 16oz + a gallon of the new waterless formula. Just went down to clean my truck and my 16oz was close to gone and still bright blue. I grabbed the gallon from the shelf and shook it up, but noticed it's not really blue at all any more. Does that indicate a problem of any kind or am I good to go? It's only been sitting a couple months.
  9. Shoot, I hadn't found the detailing library yet! Thanks guys, thats exactly what I needed.
  10. What's the process for this? Can you use it on an unwashed car or should it be washed first? Dilute 50/50? Just getting into this for the first time so I'm ignorant here! Thanks!
