I don't think the link worked. SWA (supplimental wetting agent) - I noticed you said you used a detail spray to wet the pad. Not sure where this recommendation came from, but wetting Microfiber pads is not advised. You decrease engagement quality of it soaks into the backing, you increase saturated weight which exaggerates a lot of conditions and produces a better migration of heat... And if the Detail Spray contains wax it can impact your cutting power. This is from dylan

There is a shop in Farmingdale NY which sells Adams products (they have everything Adams sells in a hugh display room) they do have other products also but very little (maybe 85% Adams / 15% other) I think the name of the place is "long island detailing" they are located on rt 110. I only found them by accident, I walked in and saw their room with tons of Adams stuff (from applicator pad,buckets,towels,every chemical product). I was very surprised that they are not listed as a distributor. Maybe Adams could send them a banner or some sought of outside sign so others would know they sell your products which means more $$$ ($$$ are always good)

Don't put too much pressure on the rupes ll . I learned the hard way, now I have to buy a new backplate because I melted the pad to the backplate.

Well if I give her enough water I maybe able to sneak a few thing in when she hits the bathroom. Ps Dave if Adam's want to show how to do paint correction and detail on a corvette I will have my 2003 50th anniversary corvette (anniversary red / shale) there if you want to use it.

My wife uses adams detail spray on the ss appliances, the glass cleaner on the windows and doors the all purpose cleaner on some of the laundry. She is always asking me for more.

is the rupes backplate ok to use the way it is in the picture above (post #8) or should I purchase a new one. ( I am not sure if adams sells only the backplate )

Dylan thank you very much for your full explanation of what may have cause this. I can see three things I screwed up on. first, it was very hot out when I was polishing . second, I did wet the pad before putting the polish on it. ( I could swear I saw adam say to do that to spread the polish out in one of the older videos) and last (which is probably how I melted the pad to the backplate) I did find myself pushing down on the rupes many times then I would ease up but found I was pushing on it again and again and again ( I guess it is part of learning) this is very new to me. thank you for all your time and help in teaching me the correct way to pain correct. jimmy

I will attempt to post some pics (never posted pic before I hope it works) Looks like they posted. One pic is the rupes backplate, and the other is the pad ( I ripped the pad up pretty badly by trying to roll it off with plier) I did not think of taking a picture of the pad stuck on the back plate. Please let me know what I did so I don't do it again Thanks Jimmy

Michael I think you may be right about it melting. Dylan I was running the rupes on speed 4 most of the time but did move up to speed 5 for a very short time to try to remove a bad scratch and then right back to speed 4

hi all today i was using my rupes 15 mark 11 which i purchased here a few months ago. the nose of my car was in poor shape so i used adams 5.5 microfiber pad with the paint correcting polish. i used detail spray to wet the microfiber pad and then small amount of polish. everything was fine until i went to remove the Velcro pad from the rupes backplate. the pad pulled off half way with no problems but then it would not pull off the other half. i tried every angle to get this off ( i have the pad brush with the pad removal tool) and nothing worked. i ended up using a pair of pliers and twisting (rolling) it slowly but that was ripping the Velcro from the rupes backplate and the adams pad (Velcro never releasing from pad or backplate). i just kept cutting the velco in various spot just to get the totally destroyed pad off of the machine. i wanted to know if i did something wrong which caused this to happen so i don't do it again in the future. thanks for your help. one last thing, can i just replace the Velcro on the rupes backplate or do i have to buy a new one. (it is missing aot of the velco (from ripping and cutting) on the backplate and don't think it is safe to use with pieces missing)
