Ahh a friend of mine has one of those. His name on the truck boards is twice blown as he has a Harley truck and DSG Lightning. Mike Faria is his real name. He is the one with the Harley truck that has fire all over it.

Gosh Ernie there are at least a hundred lightnings out there for sale. They are all over the internet and many are very low priced. Most Lightings have about 80 to 99k miles on them but you can find some low mileage ones too. The boss 5.4 has the Triton 5.4 motor which is used in the Lightning. However it is not supercharged. Its Fuel injected and Naturally Asperated. It makes 265 Horsepower. As the Boss truck is a single cab its not too heavy (Mine weighs 4060 lbs) and this motor handles it quite nicely. Wicked fast it isn't.

Hey Shane whats doin? Yeah when I went looking for a Boss I found about 12 for sale all over the USA. Now I only can find one. So I guess I was lucky in that I had a large group from which to choose. I only know of one other in California and he was in Ford Truck World and went to shows with me. He was the one who introduced the Boss to me and I always liked it even though the color is screaming Give Me a Ticket to every cop in the US. I had a Red Ferrari and never got stopped. Ive been stoppend 4 times in one year with the Boss. And all were stupid things like tinted windows. So Id say the yellow color does have its drawbacks but I still like it.

Yes the figures I just put up at 633 RWHP is the original Lightning 5.4 Block. The 633 RWHP Run was done on 116 Octane Fuel. The motor made 575 RWHP on Pump Gas. The block itself is the only stock part on the entire motor. All internals are after market as is the entire intake system including the filter, 104mm Maf, intake Plenum, Supercharger, Heads, cams, springs, valves, keepers, and all the Exhaust You can see the 575rwhp pump gas dyno run here http://www.truckblog.com/videos/?c=member

Thundrrr, I was not aware that Ford was thinking of a Boss 500. Anyway I sort of took things into my own hands and built a 633 RWHP and 718 RWT motor into the L. The cost was thru the roof. Dont think I would ever do that again. Estimated HP at the motor came out at 743 HP.

Thndrrr, Ford for what ever reason decided to make 500 F150 Trucks Called the Boss 5.4. in 2001. They are all yellow and black and all look exactly alike. There is no F150 badges or insignias anywhere on the truck. Just the Boss 5.4 badges on the sides, back and stiched on the leather seats. The modifications to the truck are a custom snake eye hood, dark gray and yellow leather interior, Yellow carbon fiber pieces on the interior, Custom 20 inch wheels, tail light grills, front bumper cover and running boards with side moldings. The truck comes with the 5.4 Triton motor of course and they sold new for 38,000. I picked this one up in New Jersey in Feb of 08 for 15K. It was in pretty good shape with only 50K miles on it. So I flew out and drove it to Los Angeles and restored it to new by doing some painting to the front end and hood to clean up the chips from rocks and such and refreshing the paint where needed. Then I put a whole new exhaust system with High Performance cats. All new brakes front and rear with new rotors and a new set of tires. Total cost was only 2500. Now its showroom fresh. Ford also made another 500 of these in 2003 in Orange and black with the same paint scheme. Ford never made anymore after that. Each is numbered in the driver door jam. So now your up to date.
