First time polishing, questions

Thanks for that info. I will try that out. I thought I had to let the machine work it, and not use any force. Ill try that! -
First time polishing, questions
derek1387 replied to derek1387's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
And one other question...the heavy correcting polish and blue pads...they seem to create a lot of dust vry quickly. I was using that when it was cold outside, so im wondering if it was just too cold to be correcting? -
Just about finished up with my first polish job on my 2015 Camaro. I picked up a Swirl Killer, and plenty of pads, and have clayed the whole car. The paint was in overall pretty good shape, with only 17K on it, and was stored for two winters, but had some swirls and surface scratches, and what looked like some water marks in the paint. " I went over most of the car with correcting polish/orange pad, and finish polish/white pad, and it looks a LOT better, but i still see some very faint surface marks and swirls. Im wondering If I am possibly moving too fast, or am I completely missing a step? Like I said, the car looks WAY better, but its not perfect. Maybe I am expecting too much for my first time, and for a daily driver? Before After Outdoors The trunk and most body lines still have light surface scratches on them, and im just not sure what I am doing wrong, or if I am just expecting way too much out of my first time....you cant really see them unless right up on the car however. Thanks all. Thinking a Mini SK may help with all the small parts on the bumper, pillars, etc, so probably going to pick one of those up as well

I havent gotten to actually use it yet. Each time i get ready to go out and do my car...something comes up.

derek1387 replied to derek1387's question in Towels, Brushes, & Accessories
Went to Harbor Freight and picked this up for $17.99. its cheap, and works until I get the Adams bags. Plenty of room too! There is a PC polisher under there too! -
Guess I have my first project....

Got it pretty much cleaned up. Still one spot where you can see faint rubbing. Think I might try the microfiber cutting pad. But it looks night and day better! -
Good amount of Pads, towels, etc, to keep on hand?
derek1387 posted a question in Towels, Brushes, & Accessories
I am kind of getting into this pretty deep. Dan@Adams...you have ruined me in a good way. That being said, I am looking for some information on how much "stuff" to keep around. Right now, I am just stock piling for the spring. I have three cars, and I plan on working my way into doing friends vehicles, etc, and see where it takes off. Current inventory of pads: 2 Finishing pads 2 Cutting Pads 1 Sealant pad 1 Microfiber cutting pad Current inventory of MF Towels 6 Orange borderless 2 gray borderless 2 Double Soft's 4 Single softs 4 gray utility About 25 other "name which will not be spoken" "premium" 400-500GSM towels. Things I know I am lacking- Drying towels. Its pretty much winter here, so I havent bothered to get those yet, but I am about to. Window/Glass towels What else am I lacking? Is there anything else I should add/stock up on? -

FAQ: "How do I take care of my microfiber towels?"
derek1387 replied to Team Adam's's topic in The Adam's Detailing Library
Is it OK to wash towels together that were used with different products? Like wash a towel that was used with Interior Detailer along side a towel that was used with window cleaner, and a towel that was used with Detail Spray? Or do they all need to be separate?- 65 replies
