So here's the story from A to Z...I have a 2000 Torch Red Corvette that had what I thought were serious swirl marks. So, I ordered the machine polishing kit from Adam's. I worked and worked on this car trying everyones techniques with only moderate improvement. Even after a phone session in the garage with Adam himself, I was still disappointed. While on the phone with Adam, I described my paint the best I could. He determined that what I had going on was scratches that were too deep in the clear coat for the Orange pad, SHR, and FMP to remove. (His products did performed exactly like they were supposed to, It "annihilated" the swirls!) The scratches I had were way too bad for an at home beginner to get rid of, it needed professional help.
At this time, Adam has me on one ear and he's calling his connections, thinking of what to do about my car. In the end he sets me up at a detail shop here in Phoenix, the same shop that gets the cars ready for the Barrett-Jackson, to have it wet-sanded and high speed buffed. I was totally not expecting that! I mean, the scratches on the car were not HIS fault or mine.(Previous owner was clueless on how to properly wash a car, but hid them very well with some "slop" off the shelf at Wal-Mart.) Adam just wanted me to be happy:)
I picked up the car yesterday afternoon. The guys there went over the car with me, showing me what they were able and no able to do. Come to find out...my Vette had been wet-sanded before! So they didn't want to sand anymore than they had to. The car still has some scratches, but overall looks so much better and shinier(they used Adam's products.)
I just want to thank all the Forum members for their tips and Adam for going above and beyond:bow: Hopefully I told the whole story. If I left anything out be sure to add to it Adam.
Now a question....does anyone have a recommendation for masking the remaining scratches?
