How can you tell if a car is ceramic coated?
UofAZCats replied to UofAZCats's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
The surface is very rough when I run my hand in a bag across the paint. Assuming the car is ceramic coated would using a clay bar on a ceramic coating remove or degrade the coating? -
My wife and I just bought a cherry red metallic 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee the other day. I did the baggy test and the paint was bumpy. I finally got a chance to wash it this morning. I did the wheels first and they must have been coated because the brake dust just floated off. Then as I rinsed the car so I could wash the water bead up a lot more than I get on my other cars. This has got me thinking it might be coated, but how would I confirm that is the case? I don't have access to the previous owner. Does anybody have a ceramic-coating-o-meter?

Glass Cleaner + Graphene Spray Coating
UofAZCats replied to aa146's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Does the presence of hard water spots cause any issue with the coating bonding to the glass? My suburban has some that resist everything I through at them. Polish seems to do the best. I want to put the spray coating on the glass but don't want to waste time and money. -
Revive polish
UofAZCats replied to dodgegirl05's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Does the Hand Polish remove previously applied protection? In particular would it remove Paint Sealant? -
The new Rinse + Coat looks great but I am not sure how it fits in the cleaning program. The video on the product page implies that it is a drying aid that provides 90 days of sealant protection but it comes in a ceramic style bottle which I assume means it is supposed to be used on coated cars. There are not any reviews and I didn't see it mentioned in the forums. Anyone use it yet? How did you use it?

Plastic Trim
UofAZCats replied to Rollingrock321's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
This is one of the best tips when polishing or waxing. Much easier than applying painters tape. -
I have learned to put VRT on my trim prior to polishing or waxing to avoid discoloring the trim. That said it is not always perfect. Has anyone used Trim Cleaner for this and had good results? Aside from preping for ceramic coating has anyone found another good use for Trim Cleaner?

Engine bay cleaner / protection / shine ...
UofAZCats replied to TOBASCO's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I clean mine on a semi-regular basis so I don't need much. I will use waterless wash or detail spray depending on how dusty it has gotten. -
Water Spots No Matter What in Texas Summer?
UofAZCats replied to edlosee's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
Living in Florida and having a red crew cab Silverado, water spots are a big concern for me. Nothing worse than spending all the effort to wash my car and then still not have look good. The one thing I didn't see mentioned above that is big factor is the car's temperature. Moving a hot car into the shade to wash it isn't enough. If the car has been sitting outside in the sun it is going to be too hot to avoid water spots. Put it in the shade at least an hour before you wash it and don't drive it. Washing early in the morning has worked best for me. I haven't taken the financial leap to buy an RO water filter. Adams large grey drying towel is awesome at helping dry my truck quickly. I have the Adams Sidekick which is also useful for the mirrors, grill and tires/wheels. -
I have a have used the older Heavy Correcting (blue), the Correcting (orange) and the Fine Polish (white). Having run out of Heavy I ordered the Compound assuming it is the basically the replacement for the Heavy per description and color. This may seem obvious but was the Correcting replaced by Scratch & Swirl? It seems clear that the Fine was replaced by the Polish (white). The old were set up as blue was for heavy duty issues then the orange and then the white to smooth it all out. Is that still the idea? Adams used to sell the three as a set, if I recall correctly, but they only seem to group the blue and white now. Another question is how does the sprayable compound that Adams offered fit into the order of these? Just trying to get a understanding of these different products. Thank for any help.

I live in Florida but just got it for Christmas. While Florida is typically warmer it has not been that warm the past 2 months. The paste itself was hard though not soft. That was why I was worried about putting the paste on since it was not so easy to spread. It wasn't especially cold out when I applied it but it sounds like I should leave it in the sun for a little bit to let it warm up if it is not soft.

Got some of the wax like Interior Protection Paste and wanted to give it a try. First can't seem to find a firm definitive answer on whether it can be only used on leather or whether it can be used on the non-leather plastics as well. When I opened the tube up the applicator was soaked with a liquid which appears to have separated out from the paste. I used the soaked applicator to cover my drivers side chair and it was wet/slick. As I worked though the applicator dried out and I used more of the solid paste which went on very dry. Took more to cover an area with the drier paste to the point I worried about putting on too much. In the end I wiped all the surfaces down again to even it out and it looks fine. Any one else have a different experience with this stuff or have any advice for what worked for them with this stuff? I love the concept because I enjoy washing the outside more than I do the inside but I certainly do not want my leather seats to degrade.

I bought a Lambskin Mitt just before the website change over. On the old website it had the description of what to do for post wash care but the new website does not. It just notes that the mitt will lose fibers prematurely if not cared for properly post wash. Anyone know what the proper post wash care is for the lambskin mitt?

Leather Conditioner vs. (Matte) Leather & Interior Dressing
UofAZCats replied to falcaineer's question in Interior Cleaning & Care
Maybe it is obvious and I am just missing it but what difference is there between the Leather Conditioner (LC) and the Leather and Interior Dressing (LID) outside of the satin versus matte look? I have really enjoyed using LC but I like that LID is cheaper. Does one provide more protection than the other? I note that the LC's description includes more detailed information such as UPF 65 while LID just states it has UV protection. Any info is appreciated. -

Site looks nice. Recommend a section for finding Glass related products. Otherwise had to search several different sections to find all the different glass products. -

I have clayed them but to no effect. I have not tried machine polishing yet. I will give that a shot.
