  1. Any recommendations to use revive with the swirl killer, like what pad to use? I really enjoy my SK, and feel I get more of an even spread then doing it by hand. Wondering if someone has some feedback. Thanks, Jeff
  2. Ah bummer I ordered two gallons like a couple weeks back, and right before the mystery boxes, I have bad timing lol.
  3. Hi everyone been looking around, and saw the American pride detail bag. Was wondering how good it is if you have it, and if not any other recommendations. I've looked on Amazon, but besides some other brands, not sure if there is something better.... Thanks, Jeff
  4. Hmmm, this is mighty interesting there Nathan, nice find, I'm almost tempted to get it. We'll see if I catch any flack at my coin wash, I might have to give this a whirl.
  5. That sponge is solid, I saw it and was like meh, doesn't look that awesome, got it in a mystery bucket, and have to say it's my go to now. Still have a non Adams microfiber mitt and Adams wash wedge, but really love the sponge.
  6. It's looking fresh and that's all that matters, believe me to have my dream car or "fancy" car, my lease is almost as much as my mortgage! So I do appreciate nice cars, but I drove a Buick 2006 lacrosse before getting this AMG. Bottom line here is no matter what car you drive it's nice to see it looking good!
  7. Evergone has pretty much covered the topics, but I fully concur on washing the applicator. I use a microfiber wash (non Adams) and I let them air dry. As stated before also, you will use only one side and really want to do thin layering of lps. Personally I find it also easier to wipe off glazes or sealants in the sun, but that's my personal preference. Post some pics when you get done!
  8. So with posting this a while back, I stopped at a different coin wash on Monday since I was off for my birthday and was doing the strip wash before my paint correction fun, which I posted over in that forum. I saw a gentlemen gathering coins, so I was like, let's see what he says. I hadn't started washing, but saw signs saying "no bucket washing, we have everything you need" lol sureee! Anyways, I asked him, he told me that if it's slow, or if you go early or late, he would turn the other cheek. He said he actually knows the guy who runs mine in Naperville and said that because I was nice enough to approach and ask, he would probably be cool with it also. He said his big no no, was if I brought my own pre filled buckets with water (which I don't do). So I think most sane business owners get it, he did say go off hours though because they don't want everyone doing bucket wash. He even was thinking about how to possibly charge not on certain things, but bay time, although he's like I would need attendants 24x7 and he said this business is more set it and come back. So I will continue to do it, and if I see the guy at my local one will probably approach to form a relationship but if he goes into a tirade like the example above, well then I'll look elsewhere. The owner of that one even stated he knows hand washing is best and said I had a nice ride, so overall a cool owner, but that one is like 20 mins from me.
  9. Those 96 impalas were the stuff back then, I'm sure with 99k on it, could still sell it for some good coin, especially with those rims looking good now
  10. It's definitely better, but the bane of black cars I swear I still saw light scratches or something else here and there but I believe it's like 95% good. The dealer must've just washed and dried it with a rake, I purchased it with 25 miles, but I know cars sit outside at dealers, but good to know what to look for next time. I didn't get into detailing until I got this. Yeah, the detailing addiction is like you need a mini sk now!!! But maybe down the line I'll grab one and give it a go next year, would make some of this so much easier.
  11. Initially as most pros and Adam himself had said, I started off on my hood in a small section. Tried orange foam pad and correcting polish, didn't do much. Was sorta shocked by that, so I got the microfiber cutting pad out, followed up with the orange foam and correcting, then white foam pad and finishing polish. After I figured this out, I would just layer the microfiber pad and orange foam, meaning I wouldn't wipe away the first go of correcting polish. I would only wipe down before the finishing polish. I had already done the strip wash, clay, and isopropyl wipe down of course before any of this, and after finishing polishing did another isopropyl wipe down before applying liquid paint sealant and then brilliant glaze.
  12. So i finally got a chance to bust out the swirl killer and try for the very first time paint correction. Here are some things i learned. Least aggressive method is the best way to go. As stated by many in the forums. My car is a 2017, I've had it 5 months. Thought just correcting polish and orange foam pad would do it. Nope, not enough. Without a mini sk, its possible to hit certain angles, but expect polish to fly. My mercedes has some contours where i had to use the polisher like an angle grinder, flung some polish, but wiped it off. Always keep the pad on the car when stopping, first one i started to lift off and polish flew on me lol, such a noob! Never be afraid to try this, I'm not a pro, and i probably went too quick over some spots, but it looks x2 as good as before. So without further ado here are some pics, was tough to capture the swirls with the sunlight. P.s. using a polisher for lps or glaze is the cats pajamas, it was speed city and took like 5 mins compared to like 15 or 20 by hand.
  13. So, wondering if it's just personal preference or is it better to use wash and wax over car shampoo? I received wash and wax in one of my mb's, just never used the car shampoo, I'm looking to get a gallon, but wondering if one is better then the other.
  14. As Dan had stated earlier plastic toothpick, and I've also seen the tip that if you worry about scratching, use a small and thin microfiber around the toothpick to avoid any scratches
  15. Thanks for doing this, I've been thinking about getting it, and haven't lucked out in any mystery boxes, looks like I might grab some with one of the sales.
  16. Welcome! Reppin Illinois myself!
  17. Hey there Collin, go over to the paint correction and polish sub forum, I had just asked the question recently and got a lot of good answers, let me know if you don't see it, and I'll link it.
  18. Agree with Joe as stated above, if anything I'm a newbie having never done any paint correction. The microfiber pads and heavy blue compound is for more serious scratches and swirls, if your car is newer and just has some swirls, I would recommend getting the correcting polish, and finish polish, with the orange and white foam pads. Also, the Adams customer service team is awesome, just because you might not see that combo available, you can call and ask them to swap the blue heavy compound for the orange correcting polish. They did for me when I purchased my swirl killer. Adams definitely makes things easier and it's why I love them, I've looked at different polishers and products, but it's exhausting sometimes. Almost everyone also will tell you, start with the least aggressive method, on a small section to figure out how much it will take to correct it. Definitely ask questions though here if not sure, all of the pros here are super awesome and helpful!
  19. I still did it today though, just sort of frustrated, I live in a condo, and this one is close to my place, I spend about 8 bucks per week there washing. Anyone else have this by their coinwash? I'm tempted to write or call management and ask why, I try to get in and out of the bay as quickly as I can. I never see tons of people doing the bucket wash method, only myself. Just sucks as there is not many other options besides bugging friends to use their hoses and drive a good 15 to 20 minutes at least. Makes me sad
  20. I'm patiently waiting for my swirl killer to come in so I can take a crack at correcting the swirls. I see the videos where everyone marks off sections with tape. What type of tape does everyone use, and where do you typically purchase it?
  21. Nice, that ride looks brand new to my eyes now!
  22. Quick question since I just ordered mine also and will be first time using it. Pretty sure I saw Adam say in the video if you use this to not layer anything over it? Just wanted to confirm, because I take it would be better to lay down lps first then this? I will be doing a strip, clay, and paint correction in a couple weeks, wondering the best method.
  23. Awesome, sounds how my car is too, only 4 months old, but the dealer had some swirls in there, I did wash, clay and lps at first because I didn't have the swirl killer, but this sale! It's screaming get everything you need! so I'll do some correction, and probably still lps , but you give me thoughts on finding garage space to do the ceramic...Illinois winters suck, would love to do that before winter!
  24. What kind of polisher do you have, and used? Looking to get one, I hear swirl killer is awesome, curious. Nice job also! Looks cloudy in first pic, but looking good now!
