Totally agree! @RayS thank you!! I can’t wait to get some wheels and RSG rock sliders on it. Just got it tinted today. 50% on the windshield and replaced the 15% on the front windows. They were kind of beat up

Super excited to say I finally have a 4Runner. I’m in the process in perfecting it. I’ll take some more after pictures today or tomorrow. I have extracted the carpets with my Bissell spot clean Professional (available on Amazon) that I got for Christmas and it is probably my best tool in my arsenal. And I have extracted the front seats. I pulled the seats out of the car and cleaned all the bolt cover trim pieces as well. I also disassembles the center console to get this as clean as I possibly can. Still have more to go, I will update as I do it. I will be coating someone soon if i can catch a warm day sooner or later. But for now here are some pictures.

There is something special about getting a vehicle that you own and being able to detail it the way you want.  Enjoy the new rig.

Nice truck Tim!  It is always fun to get a new vehicle of you own to do a full detail too.

That white floor paint around the seat mounts would be bug  the crap out of me!  I would be tempted to put down some Plasti-dip where the carpet holes are.

ObsessedDetailer reacted to RayS in Preparing for Spring 2020
Hard to believe that Spring is just around the corner.  For the Florida friends, it has pretty much arrived.  The south east is another 15 or days away and for the northern folks, June isn't that far off, hang in there.

Given that we've all been rather quiet on the detailing side, I thought it would be interesting to see what the members have planned for their houses and vehicles.

Mary and I are looking at some landscaping to pretty up the front of the house after putting the new fence in last year thanks to the tornado.  In addition, we've finally decided on the design for our new building and now it is all about the prep work and finalizing the a few items.

This is not an endorsement or recommendation, but is the company we are in discussions with and the building model we both like. The one change will be the wall on the left side will go to the ground.  The size will be 36' long, 18' wide bay and 10 maybe 12 foot wide enclosed area.   The peak will be 14' so I can put campers or motorhomes in there and it will be a full wash bay.

So that is the initial plan for the Spring and the wife has made it pretty clear that the landscaping comes first.  Then I just need to do a bunch of vehicles to replenish the savings account.  It will be nice to have a decent sized shop for the vehicles we rehab since they tend to be longer term projects.

What does everyone else have planned?

I wrote this on another forum and I am going to transfer it here.

    Products:

    Adams UV Ceramic Paint Coating

    Adams UV Ceramic Spray Coating

    Adams Ceramic Boost

    Adams UV Light

    Short description of each product

Ceramic Boost is the maintenance product for the coatings.

    SiO2 infused
    Glazed Almond Scent
    3-6 months protection
Can be used on paint, chrome, plastic, wheels and glass.

UV Paint Coating is new for 2019 with the UV attribute. Essentially the UV light is used to see where the coating has been applied. Adams calls it their patent pending ceramic glow technology.

    9H
    5+ years protection
50ml does 2 full sized vehicles
Can be used on single stage, clear coat, vinyl wraps, trim, bed liners, headlights, tonneau covers, canvas tops, floor mats, plastic trim
    Temperature application 50 degrees
    Cure time 12-24 hours
    Max layers is 3
Can be seen with 395 UV light
Does not glow in the dark

UV Ceramic Spray Coating has been reformulated with the ceramic glow technology for 2019.

    Solvent based ceramic spray coating
    10-12 month durability
Can be used on paint, glass, headlights, tonneau covers, soft tops, chrome, trim, wheels, bed liners
    Max layers is 3
Can be seen with 395 UV light
Does not glow in the dark

UV light is used for the coatings. It is 396 NM with 100 LED UV Blacklights. Requires 6 AA batteries.

I applied to a silver hood which is my test panel for the product. Prepped with 3D ACA finishing polish and prep wiped with Americana Global Stripper.

Application is pretty straight forward. Same technique used for any other coating.

This is one where I just spread the product and it can be seen under the light.

I divided the hood into three sections. The ceramic boost does not contain the glow technology. So it will not show any change under the light.

After pulling the tape back we can see that both the spray and paint coating react to the light. You will notice the darkening effect is more pronounced for the paint coating under the UV light.

This is the transition point to the area where Ceramic Boost was applied.

From a distance the coated areas are clearly shown with the UV light.

Notice the over spray from misting onto the surface.

    Final thoughts on application:

From an application stand point the paint coating is pretty straightforward to use. Easy to spread out and easy to wipe off. Feels slick upon removal. It did take me a few extra passes to have even coverage of the coating. After that I understood how the product behaved at the temperature and humidity I was working with.

The spray coating is easy to work with. Simply mist the applicator and spread the product out. I misted on the panel and got a little overspray. This is always a concern and thus using an applicator is the best method to avoid over spray. It does not take long for it to flash for it to be wiped off.

The ceramic boost is very easy to work with. Simply wipe and wipe off. An easy product to maintain either of these coatings.

In terms of slickness it is ceramic boost, the spray coating and then the paint coating.

I was not sure how long the effect under the UV light stays around. But after reading more about the coating it appears that it will be visible under the UV light specked out by Adams. It will not be seen in the daylight or glow at night.

Overall it is a good way to see if the coating is applied to an area or the potential of a high spot being left behind. A good coating for anyone worried about those things especially first timers.

One thing about Adams is that their products are user friendly.

I can not comment on durability just yet. That test will come later.

It is an interesting characteristic and kudos to Adams for thinking outside the box to differentiate their coatings.

A couple application videos. Part 3 is a little long as it includes the application of the spray coating, ceramic boost and I share my final thoughts on application.

ObsessedDetailer reacted to Brewder in Zaino to Adams Ceramic
    Hello,

I'm a long time user of Zaino products.  I want to switch to a ceramic coating for my 2017 Chevy SS in Regal Peacock Green Metallic (crazy awesome color if you've never seen it).  In the bright sun, the paint looks like a very bright green metallic.  In the shade, it looks black.  I love the depth and richness.

This car has very few miles (under 10k) on it but does require some light paint correction to remove swirl marks most likely from the dealer auto car wash (before I took ownership).

I'm curious what a basic kit/process would be to strip the existing layers of Zaino.. Claybar, Perform light PC, then apply the ceramic polish and best topper for it (including all of the chrome/plastic trim).

I'm new to the slightly overwhelming number of Adams products so looking for a good starting point to get me in the right direction.

    Thanks!
    //Brew
PS... A few pictures of the car are in order!

My sisters 300 "Big Sal" is the latest hydrophobic car on the road courtesy of yours truly.  The new compound is nice to work with, ended up using that, polish, brilliant glaze and sealant. Did a full recon for her, sealed the windows and scrubbed 5 years of brake dust from the barrels. I owe her interior dressing and leather conditioner which I have yet to buy.

Received my stuff today and was thrilled. Started my car with a strip wash and starting claying but ran out of sun light. I’ll finish tomorrow and start the paint correction with my new 15mm pro. Really happy with my purchase except I bought the new blanket for my wife and she looked at it and said that will be a neat car cover! I kind of gave her a stare and said it’s to use around the house, games etc! Her exact words were, send it back and get stuff for you, I don’t need another blanket. So much for trying! Guess I’ll add a micro to my collection!

Thank you!  The smell was pretty bad. I don’t know how some people do it. I really don’t. Sometimes it’s about having the right equipment and process. We consistently change the way we do things to make things happen. It can be satisfying seeing progress in a vehicle like this.

Take a guess at how many hours we put into it and then I’ll give you the answer?

I would recommend a clay bar also as @ObsessedDetailer suggested.

I also believe that @Chris@Adams has suggested using the orange Correcting Polish and an orange HexGrip Foam Applicator by hand to hand polish the glass. Chris please correct me if I'm wrong.
