Bscott94 reacted to Dan@Adams in Ceramic Curing on Vinyl
Just make sure to check with the vinyl installer that they don't have any kind of off-gassing period or anything like that before applying any products to it 👍

Yep, it can be easy to damage vinyl wraps with machine polishing!
@Bscott94 As far as heat from the engine afterward, heat will usually aid in the coating curing faster. This is why some shops use infrared curing lamps to speed up the curing process. Just make sure that you have completely removed all residue with no high spots before the customer leaves. Make sure to pull the vehicle out into the sunlight for a visual inspection, since you may not see some high spots with garage lighting! Definitely apply the coating with the surface cool to the touch though, preferably in room temperature range.

Good advice from @BRZN above.
Only thing I'd add is even if it's needed for some reason, don't correct much, if at all, it may degrade the adhesive and cause big issues.

The coating that's currently on the vehicle is going to have to be removed before the wrap goes on. The adhesive of the wrap will not stick to the coating.
Yes, you'll want the hood to cool down before trying to coat it. If it's a hot and sunny day, your going to want to make sure the trunk lid is cool too.
I'm not sure how the heat from the engine will effect the coating prior to being completely cured.
I Ceramic Coated the Clear Wrap on my '06 GTO this past winter, it was just like doing paint.

I have had a little trouble with the new glass sealant on a couple cars, however, i quick mist of glass cleaner and the green glass towels made it perfect, with almost no effort.

Bscott94 got a reaction from Nickfire20 in What Did You Wash, Shine, and or Polish Today
I worked on a BMW late last week. It was a really cool car to work on. The paint was hazy and swirled and there were some pretty big scratches and scuffs. I was able to clean it up super well though. The owner was blown away. I was very happy about getting the huge scuff off of the bumper. I think embedding Instagram is easiest but if I need to upload pictures, I can.

🍟🍟🍟
You can probably relate. Seems like just about every car I clean has at least one random french fry hanging around. Usually under the seat, it (they?!) could be in some random other spot in the car, too.
So here's a place to celebrate that hard as a rock, somehow still looking edible piece of culture.
Anytime you come across one, take post a picture here...I'll start! Taken yesterday, found in an F150 under the driver seat.

Welcome to the forum! Those shelves look familiar. Are the Ikea picture ledges?

Bscott94 reacted to BRZN in Glass Sealant VS Ceramic Spray VS Ceramic glass wipes
I've applied the Ceramic Glass Wipes to all my personal vehicles. They're two part, with Part A being the Ceramic, and Part B being a Glass Sealant. If you decide to use the wipes understand Part A needs applied quickly, exactly as the instructions state. I mean quickly, like run from one side of the vehicle to the other, then run back to the first side to apply Part B.
Do not use the Green Glass Towel provided in the kit to remove the Part B product residue, use an Edgeless Utility Towel instead. The Edgeless Utility Towel has more bite to it and makes removing the residue much easier. Be aware, residue removal is a chore and requires some scrubbing with the towel and provided Glass Cleaner. If some residue remains, and is seen later I've had success removing it with just a dry Microsilk Glass Towel and some elbow grease.
Once the product is on the glass it remains for months with only an occasional addition of Glass Sealant to add back the hydrophobic properties.
Several on this forum has used it and had problems removing the residue. I've found that even with some residue still on the glass it doesn't affect visibility driving during the day or night. The residue will eventually go away even without trying to remove it with the Microsilk Glass Towel.

Make sure you wipe down with surface prep or isopropyl alcohol before applying the ceramic. Not sure if that is included in the ceramic process or not but I want to make sure it's mentioned.

I've never seen iron remover do this much. I don't think this car has ever been detailed. It looks like it's been washed with a wire brush.

Bscott94 got a reaction from Chris@Adams in Clay Mitt Lifespan
It think it was grabbing a little on the quarter panel. It was definitely the worst on the bumper. I'll do a little testing this evening. I hope it's not dead because I've only used it on a few cars. I'm going to be polishing so it's not a big deal but I want to know if I need to throw this mitt away or not.

Hmm, not sure on that, as mine has not done that. But I can tell you that Revive does a great job removing any clay towel/mitt marks like that.

I enjoy seeing all these manufacturing companies set up to help out with what they can. The only product here I've tried so far is the hand soap. It smells amazing. The hand sanitizer and home surface cleaner should be here today. I'm excited to try those

My grill is mostly black but I think I might use paint polish and CSC. Some squirrels destroyed my grill cover this winter so it was halfway exposed to the elements most of winter.

NY Post reported that the owner of this rare (1 of 25..24 now) was involved in several accidents this AM in mid-town. Thankfully no reports of injuries. The owner was allegedly intoxicated...but this poor car is wrecked. It literally hurts me to look at this pic. Its a customized Porsche carrera GT....😳😬😭

That looks good. If there's just a small section to touch up, it'd be easier to do it by hand rather than dragging out all of the equipment for machine polishing.

Hey Admins, can this info be added to a sticky on the forum? I'm not sure where it would go but I think this would be very useful, especially for new members. Also, is there any way to find this on the site without having the direct link? I checked here but it's not listed.

Thats an easy answer for me. Its my 94’ Acura Legend 6 speed coupe! I had about 50k miles on it and traded it in around 2001. Although i still loved it at the time i was commuting into NYC and figured there was a better chance of it getting stolen than not! I figured i was giving the car a chance and let her go!😢
I look everyday for a replacement..probably several times a day! My favorite site (other than this one!) is Bringatrailer.com (BaT). Awesome cars.
they had my dream car last week...unfortunately sold for over what i was looking. ($25,500!😳). I dont have pic of my actual car but this car is exactly what im hunting for .
